I watched Tabletop Ep. 1! I thought Small World was extremely complex at first but now I get it. On a design level, I think it could have benefitted from having either the board or the actual tokens be less colorful; everything kind of blends together.

Lv4 Undead Horse.
Kingsburg
(holy shit this game fucking rules)
Agreed. Sadly the battle cards are usually easy to beat so speccing into the battle-based buildings isn't that viable, and the punishment for losing a battle is never that high (save for a few cards).
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

Citadels, Power Grid and Bohnanza all get two thumbs up from TBM as long as you have at least four people in your play group.
Citadels and Bohnanza are easy to pick up and play right from the get go but Power Grid is definitely a game where your milage may vary.

Then two, then three, then a month
Then the rest of your life, you beat yourself up

I remember power grid, I think I played that once.
And I can't stand Citadels o_o It's a personal thing. It's a tad like mafia actually. But I have a personal grudge against it
board games are fun. I need to find a way to play 5-10 player games by either finding 5-10 people to play with or modifying them in ways that will actually work.

Engineers accepted the word “planetary” in its epicyclic sense, but I was always conscious that it also meant “wandering,” “erratic.”
Compassion, Common Sense, and Context should always go together.

I got it almost a month ago and only managed to play it once. We started at like 10PM (bad idea) and at some point we realized it was 3AM and we were all half asleep, all of us were failing pretty spectacularly in the 'how does this work again' department.
Incidentally BSG also marked the point where my games exceed the allotted space in my closet (2 shelves). I should probably get rid of some of the children's games still in there.
How do you guys find people to play board games with? Most of my friends really prefer LoL LAN-parties whenever we do anything game related together.
We kind of split our time between LoL and board games pretty evenly.
I got lucky in the fact that my boyfriend likes to geek out, my roommate likes to geek out, and I happen to live near about eight other Scummers, all of who obviously love to geek out as well. Pretty much, I provide the board games and the playspace, they provide the company (and lots of times, the alcohol).
BSG really isn't that complicated after one playthrough. The turns get this kind of rhythm down to it and it becomes fairly automated.
hey there's no hidden information in that game right? clearly you guys need to set up skype and let me play quarriors at the next NC meet via satellite >>

Love: Citadels, Race to the Galaxy, Ghost Stories, Turn the tide
TtR: Okay game, but great to introduce new people to boardgaming (simple, visually appealing, easy to make strategies for)
I wish I lived somewhere with bigger board game stores.....
gauntlet games? oddly enough I found it completely by accident while biking once. (the guy was vaguely put out because he apparently spent a lot of time the previous week working on the website, and I found his store because I was looking for a mcdonalds.) it's alright, but I've been spoiled by the amazing board game stores in MN (The Source Comics and Games and the Fantasy Flight Event Center are like five miles from eachother...it's not even fair.)
