Story Time:
A princess and her telepathic horse John Carter awaken on Mars. The princess gets imprisoned by her step-parents/regents but luckily she gets to share a cell with a certain confidant of the Wizard-King of Venus. The Wizard-King visits her cell to meet with the prisoner and instantly falls in love. He arranges a plan whereby he donates a number of books to the prison library, one of which contains a spell, which the confidant can use because he's learned magic from one of the Mars witches. The plan works and the pair of prisoners get teleported to Venus where the Wizard-King is waiting. The King and the Princess get married but then the other prisoner reveals that he's secretly still working for the witch! He challenges the Wizard-King to a duel. The Wizard-King charges his sword with his magic and stabs. However, the Spy knew exactly how it was that the Wizard-Kings of Venus fought and had come prepared. He had hollowed out part of his chest for this occasion and instead of striking a fatal blow the Wizard-King got disarmed. The Spy runs off and then uses magic to teleport to the witch and delivers the sword which contains most of the Wizard-King's magic. The witch now feels up to the task of infiltrating the dreams of the Witch-Queen of Jupiter, knowing that if she can get her hold on the Queen's magic, she'll be unstoppable. But unbeknownst to her, as the kings and queens of the solar system had guarded this secret well, royalty had quite a bit more power in dreams and the witch was repulsed and blinded. In the meanwhile John Carter of Mars had found his princess on Venus (John Carter is capable of superluminal space travel) and the king sends him on a mission to retrieve the sword. John Carter orbits Mars a few times until he spots the witch. They fight. John Carter eventually wins (I think, I might be missing a small part of the story) but he knows the only way to truly defeat a witch is running an Earth tree through her and Earth's location has been lost. So the princess, king and John Carter go to a library and look for clues. John Carter ends up being the one finding despite his hooves. The wizard-king tells John Carter to commission a ship. John Carter gets his horse crew together but has some problems due to their hoofiness. A passing rebel ends up giving them the help they need and they get the witch to Earth where they bury her body in such a way that she'll never return. Then they go back and apart from a slight diversion with a wolf stow-away, all is well and everyone is happy.

The fact that anyone considered a scum double voter was fairly fucking stupid tbh but how and ever.

Totally not opposed to public scum D1 double voters myself, for the record, so no, not really.

It was just surprising because generally CES seems to be a more precise guy than I am but having no win con is something I generally find really sloppy.

Hmm? I knew exactly in what situations each faction would win; I just don't see any reason to tell you or to explicitly spell out that you're town.

About as powerful as a factional roleblock, I'd say.

Now that I'm back, let me make a note about the balance here: I think that as it played out it was probably a little town-sided, but that was mostly due to some dodgy role-based reasoning which this set-up didn't punish because I was busy doing something else with the scum team (i.e. no night talk with 2 factional abilities to coordinate, which has the nice feature of boosting a lone mafioso a bit by letting him use both unimpeded). I'll just note the obvious parallels between Vi's role here and Katsuki's role in my last 7p (Dayblocker): they're both unconfirmable, can work as a counter to Town power and both are balanced in part by being public. Only difference between the two is that Vi was Town and Katsuki wasn't. Faraday's role is less obviously similar, but the basic idea of balancing a role by making its functioning public applies similarly to a Mafia D1 Doublevoter.

I wouldn't've put in a D1 Doublevoter if I didn't think Mafia D1 Doublevoter was a viable role anyway; roles like Doublevoter and Miller who for the most part don't in any way function like their abilities imply they should are very meh.
