I don't have to hate him to not want to provide incentives for being "infamous."

Nope.

Sorry, but "wiktionary" is not an actual source.

"Damn it" is two words. It was only put together for the title, which has no spaces. Any "one word" contraction of "damn it" is not standard English. You guys can still use it if you want, but it will bother me.

Used to express anger, irritation, contempt, or disappointment.
[Alteration of damn it.]

I always though dammit was the correct spelling.
But Flay doesn't even want anything 62 related, does he?
I think WiKid is fine.

I actually am not a prescriptivist, though of course from that exchange alone it would look like it. Can't watch that video right now.

My point was that arguing over which slang word is more widely accepted is pissing into the wind.

I was never suggesting "damnit" as an alternative to "dammit." I was saying that "dammit" is a word that annoys me, since it is functionally NO different at all from its actual derivative, "damn it."

It's like arguing that "horse shit" should be "horseshyt" for no reason at all.

While it is a word that annoys me on a personal level, I only said something as a funny haha because of the grammar police thing that was going on, since it's over the top.

Dammit is absolutely the correct spelling. Damn it with a space is the valid alternative.

Because overusing a lame smily doesn't warrant a title.

I have always loved that smiley because the first time I saw it it was accompanying a picture of a deer with an identical expression.
