x-boosts mean a lot if you work a dayjob and will only be able to commit a couple hours each night to the game (andthisis who the game is targeting, not 13 year olds with Mommy's credit card). Arenanet knows their demographic: the pimply teens who played vanilla and first one or two WoW expansions are graduating from college and (theoretically) finding or have stable jobs that they hate.
The boosts are pretty wimpy, but in the end they do affect how many net hours it takes to earn an item. Pretty big for anyone who doesn't have a lot of hours to throw at the game. :/So high, so low, so many things to know.

Cooking is incredibly fun, but I don't know if I'll level it on my first toon. It's a HUGE gold sink with few returns. Might be better off leveling something with a better economic splash while the server is young.
Anyone have ideas for cash cows? On release/new MMO servers I always dominate the market with a few essential things: bag/inventory space, crafting materials w/ low drop:use ratios, minipets (http://dulfy.net/2012/06/17/gw2-minisminipets/!), or gaming the trading post by buying out certain types of semi-common materials and artificially inflating their cost (this is immoral and trickles into the rest of the economy, but whatevs). So high, so low, so many things to know.

You'll love the combat system, Hito. It's a combination of Witcher 2 timings (especially on autos/1 for certain classes, or riposte type skills), TERA dodging (roll to avoid that fireball! Everything is a 'skillshot' and can be broken by line of sight or movement if it's a projectile), and a combo system that's more robust than anything I've seen.
Movement is a big deal in a way it never was in WoW, except at very high level arena play (and even then "movement tests" were just a measure of how tightly you could hump x_terrain). PvE encounters aren't really revealed yet, but the low level instance Fate and I did involved a lot of ducking and dodging to avoid death. I played a thief on low fps/graphics, which was pretty unforgiving and HARD even though I'm pretty good at avoiding traditional mmo aoe/dat fire.
Combos are field-based and tend to be intuitive ("firemage make flame wall, arrows I shoot through flamewall turn burnburn!"), but the interactions between certain fields and finishers gets pretty complex. There are a lot of debuffs, boons, and aoe management to consider in group settings - especially pvp.So high, so low, so many things to know.

I've been taking screenshots at just about every vista. Here are a couple beautiful Queensdale shots.

So uh
I looked up AC Explorable videos. First, allof the path choices involve defending somethingoranother from spawning burrows. The scenery is different, but the event is essentially the same.
Second, there's a trap trigger in the event room. Pulling the lever will spawn spike traps which KILL ENTIRE WAVES OF BUG SHIT at once. We tried to aoe everything down. Whoops. So high, so low, so many things to know.

Yo, Gears of Fate chaps: http://fate.gleigh.net
Standing up a website this weekend. Right now / redirects to the forums, but I'll have a proper homepage up sometime this weekend. For now, feel free to register on the forums and spam the admin email address with your goat porn. I might try to develop a cute little character tracking tool or something.
Starting to focus on tournament PvP and WvW lately. We're laid-back on the weeknights (instances, alts, exploring, WvW objective control) and usually do longer tournament marathons on weekends. Come play~
Love,
Your WebmistressSo high, so low, so many things to know.
