IntroWelcome to
LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE

Our teams today:

Blue Barracudas
: kdowns and Elmo TeH AzN
Green Monkeys
: T-Bone and Captain Corporal
Purple Parrots
: Twistedspoon and JDGA
Red Jaguars
: swyellowtail and UberNinja
Silver Snakes
: chesskid3 and animorpherv1

The Orange Iguanas died backstage. It was tragic.

The MoatHere is your first challenge: The Moat!

To cross the moat, you must type
[Player] rows 2 meters for a total of [X] meters
. This must be posted exactly with your name in for Player, the proper number of meters, the brackets, and in bold and your team's color. We are going to be incredibly anal, because if you do not do it exactly right, you will fall in the water and must start over. Same with the time. Basically, if anything is wrong you have to start over.

You must do this until you have rowed 6 meters. You may only post once every three minutes. After that, you must attempt to toss the paddle back to your partner. To do so, roll a d6 in thread. If you roll a 6, they will catch it and may begin instantly. Otherwise, you must wait one minute and try again.

Once both team members have crossed, the last team member must post
[Player] hits the gong!
in bold and your team's color at any time after you have completed the 6th meter. If you are one of the first four teams to hit the gong, you will move on to the Steps of Knowledge.

Please note that any edited posts are invalidated and require you to restart your turn. Fixed dice are also not permitted; watch those ninjas!

Yeah they'd have to retype the dice rolling string after getting ninja posted.

No, just delete the numeric code that it generated.

The Steps of Knowledge

Blue Barracudas
: kdowns and Elmo TeH AzN
Green Monkeys
: T-Bone and Captain Corporal
Purple Parrots
: Twistedspoon and JDGA
Silver Snakes
: chesskid3 and animorpherv1

Welcome to the Steps of Knowledge! Here's how it works:

  1. Lower down in this post, you will find this episode's Legend. Please take the time to read over it, as all the questions will be based upon it.
  2. At 8:00pm EST, provided there are no outstanding questions, I will post the first Question. The first team to post the correct answer will earn a point and step down.
  3. Only the first answer from your team will be counted, no matter if the correct answer came later.
  4. The first two teams to three points will move on to the Temple Games.
  5. Editing is absolutely verboten. Don't do it or you lose that point. Do it again and you get disqualified.

Spoiler: THE LEGEND
Towering over Rangun, the capital city of ancient Burma, is a great temple called the Shwedagon Pagoda. The Pagoda is covered with over two tons of gold and over six thousand jewels, including a giant 73-karat diamond at the top of its tower. It also has thousands of bells, tiny tinkling ones and one that weighs 23 tons. Inside the Pagoda was a giant statue of Buddha with a large jade belly button. In 1824, the British stormed the Pagoda, and the English soldiers made off with the Belly Button of Buddha and the great bell. The bell sank in the river as they tried to float it away. The Burmese later lifted it out of the river, but the Belly Button of Buddha vanished completely…until now!

Purple Parrots are headed to the Temple!

Other teams, don't worry, you're not going home empty handed. We'll be giving you each [INSERT DATED 90'S REFERENCE PRIZE] as consolation!

Details on the Temple games in a moment.

Temple Games

The Temple Games will be contested in three rounds. The first two will occur concurrently and will match up one member of each team against each other for a half Pendant of Life. The third will involve all members against the other team.

For the first two rounds, the teams must pair themselves off. One member will be competing in a Flash game, while the other will have a more traditional game on the forum.

You have 48 hours to decide the split and post it in the thread. None of the Temple Games are live.

I suppose if you want to PM Olmec and CC both mods that's okay.

The Temple Games

Flash Game (
JDGA
v.
Captain Corporal
)

For the flash game, you have 48 hours to contact one of the mods privately. You may do this via PM (Xalxe/Pizzadudes7), AIM (xalxexii/Pizzadudes7) or Skype (awspeidel/Pizzadudes7), at which point we will give you the link to the flash game. From the time we give you the link you have 24 hours to play and get the highest score you can. By the end of the 24 hours you must have sent us a screenshot of your best score. The player with the highest score will win a half Pendant of Life for their team.

Forum Game (
Twistedsppon
v.
T-Bone
)

The two of you will be playing Battleship on an 8x8 grid. You have 48 hours to send in your three ship locations. You have an aircraft carrier (length: 5), a submarine (length: 3) and a patrol boat (length: 2) to place. Once you both have sent your ships in we will begin the game in the thread. First to sink all their opponent's ships wins a half Pendant of Life.
