Fightings in Gen 1...such a sad race. The best one they get is Machamp. He's the only one not OHKO'd by Alakazam's Psychic. Then there's Hitmonlee who's not too shabby, Primeape who's eh and Hitmonchan who's in the bottom 3 of all final evolutions (along with Ditto and Golbat).

Enter Gen 2 with Dark and Steel, woop woop, Machamp is suddenly a viable option on plenty of teams.

If the first Pokémon in an area is a Pokémon you've already caught, you're allowed to face one new wild Pokémon and attempt to catch that instead - this is to avoid these duplicates.
