VOTE: Nay as is.

Apparently, though, people don't want to make amendments? Is it just a simply "I propose X Amendment" kind of deal? Correct me if I'm wrong...

I propose Amendment 301A:
The deadline of twenty-four (24) hours assigned in Bill 301 is extended to fourty-eight (48) hours.

Thus, we give a reasonable amount of time for people to brainstorm, get on, and we generally account for real life.

I propose Amendment 301B:
The penalty assigned for failure to comply with rule 301 (stated below)

In the event that a player does not propose a rule in their turn, their turn is skipped the first time. The second time, they are prodded and have an extra twenty-four (24) hours, and is skipped at the end of the time. The third time, they are eliminated.

is rewritten as "In the event that a player does not propose a rule within the first forty-eight (48) hours of their turn [hereafter referred to as THIS], for the first time, they are prodded and receive an additional twenty-four (24) hours to propose a rule. The second time THIS occurs, that player's turn is skipped and goes to the next player on the list. The third time THIS occurs, the player is eliminated."

That way, the penalties are sensible, and it is clear exactly what the rule entails.

Edit:
There was a missing quotation mark at the end of Amendment 301B....

Well, ani, 48 is just cleaner. Occasionally I spend a whole day away from the website, but rarely do I stay away for two. As well, there are quite a few people who have constant real life circumstances which prevent them from accessing the game everyday. Honestly, it's just an extension to prevent anyone from being screwed over for catching up on work or something along those lines.

PEdit:
That sums it up, I suppose.

Also, a question for Mhork:

Do you play mafia? Under current site meta, this is practically lurking.

I do play mafia, but a single day off is hardly lurking. Sometimes one needs to clear their head. Sometimes one needs to buckle down and do whatever work they put off. All I know is that I've yet to have a single person call me out for lurking.

In post 124, Packbat wrote:If, as I suspect, the bill cannot be revised after being put up for vote:

301: Each player has twenty-four (24) hours from the start of their turn to propose a new rule. In the event that a player does not propose a rule in their turn, their turn is skipped the first time. The second time, they are prodded and have an extra twenty-four (24) hours, and is skipped at the end of the time. The third time, they are eliminated. This rule takes precedence over Rule 201.

Can you quote rules on this 'no-revision' theory?

Yuck. That's a nasty rule. I guess that logically means that ani's vote can't be changed as it was announced for a vote alread, then? So from now on we should present, take suggestions, and then open it to a vote? Am I reading that right?

I've no clue, Ani. People seem to like my play overall.

Chevre, you could easily do Ani's suggestion. With collaboration on the part of all the players, I'm fairly certain we could get it through.

If you have a better idea, though, feel free to try and implement it.

I agree with Chevre. If the point of this game is to win, then this rule can make winning impossible. Do we really need an endless cycle of players rotating in and out?
