Someone has to do Mass Effect Survivor.

I might. Who knows. If I do it, 99% chance it's anonymous.

Now announcing:

Image

I actually have JDGA's permission to write up an announcement. And the image in mine kty.

Alright, so JDGA has this awesome thing called VASSAL. It runs a lot of things. We started with playing Wheel of Fortune, but recently we've moved into playing other games. We finished a game of CLUE/CLUEDO on Friday (I won it), and we've been playing a game called Pandemic (opposite of the Pandemic flash game if you've seen that) ever since.

DETAILSWho: Add JDGA (Telnaior Kiryu). Alternatively, add myself (animorpherv1) and just tell me that you want to play the next game.

What: We play games! Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy (JDGA has a single player only version, and it takes hours), and board games. Feel free to bring idea of what to play with you!

When: We generally play on Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays (hence WEEKEND games). If you're in the Americas, it starts late one day and generally ends some time after midnight. If you're in Europe/Africa, you'll be playing long into the morning (ohai sw). Any Asian/Australian players may be lucky enough to already have it start on the next day. Games tend to take longer over AIM. We played Pandemic 3 player, and it took 3 hours. That said, we did win.

Where: Over AIM, silly! Don't have AIM? Download this to get started!

Why? Because why not? Board games are fun!

Parama, just FYI, the Ally-Betrayal thing is broken.

That said, welcome to the club.

Mass Effect Survivor
has only 1 pre-/in slot left!

If we run out of pre-/in slots, I will give reminders when the game starts.

Maybe we can have Sky Pillar start at F10 for Mehdi's game. It will cut down some of the wait time, if people are willing to have to deal with 2 games at once for a bit.

Chevre, I am downright saying this now.

I am
not
joining your game until get a co-mod, and I reccommend everyone else does the same. You
will
either flake it or make it go on way longer than need be. I have a plethora of examples.

Also, to explain my issues with any sort of formal system with this, I stole my own quote from AIM:

Animorpherv1 2:55 am
my biggest one being
if we need experience
as a 'fair requirement'
we have to accept offsite experience
and /someone/ has to judge it
I'm not comfortable with giving it to izak'
and most of the older players probably don't want to
like
good luck
getting Drench to review a game
I feel like Mehdi's game will go fine
if Snakes finds a co-mod
that will go fine also
no need for the big hub ub

I believe that /someone/ is interested in running a formalized queue. The only 'fair' way to decide who can enter or not is exepreience, and I feel like using experience is terribly flawed.

I think the idea of a formal queue is too vague to begin with. What would it be for? Everything? Only Survivor? "Big" games in general? All of those are flawed in one way or another.

Yeah, I was terribly off.

If we implement any changes, this is what I want to see (in order):

1) Anyone with a past history of flaking A LOT of games
must
have a co-mod. I see no reason to not add this, as serial flakers will serial flake.
2) Anyone who plans on modding a 'large' game (Survivor, Big Brother, etc. for now),
must
have some planning done on it before officially announcing anything. Like, if I asked you how many players, what kind of game it is, how many 'live' challenges you intend on running, etc, could you give me that information?

Big Brother games are fairly few and in between here. The only reason I made that one is because it's been a while since our last finishing BB (which was ShadowLurker's, years ago at this point, also the ONLY finishing Big Brother before mine). With all the Survivor games planned, it may take even longer. I suggest you just join some of those while you wait., as they are similar ish.

So tl;dr: Don't expect another one for a year or more.

{A note from the moderators of Mass Effect Survivor}

Mass Effect Survivor is still planned to take start
AFTER
Survivor: Sky Pillar, in order to decrease co-dependency. If there are other games that are not anonymous behind us, that would like to start after Mario Bros. Survivor, they are free to do so.

We are also still not accepting any more pre-/ins, but are taking notifications.

How often do you update the OP? If you don't, can we get on that? Or secede that job to someone who will?

Dear Xalxe,

Mass Effect moderators are in the middle of not giving a fuck. We're at F3, so it won't be that much longer anyways.

Plus the faster this queue ends the faster people can get a break.

I think an important thing to be brought up is Sky Pillar happened in the middle of Kingdom Clash and Mario. If you're worried about the potential of people using other forums to get a peek at who could be who, then you should have brought it up then - not during Arkham. And on top of that, I feel like this should have been done in private - this feels like drama whoring for the sake of drama whoring.

Do I need to link to the data I collected again to prove that people are willing to do this? This is a non-issue.

As for my Kingdom Clash analysis - it was only because of the possibility of Xalxe being worried about players using sites (namely online lists) to gather information for themselves. And I'd argue Mario didn't actually slow until SSP arrived, both from word of mouth and personal opinion.

Well, my personal opinion of the RPGs in the forum is similar to most people's if someone created a mafia game that required 10 different topics, all in the same forum. It makes it much more difficult to find the threads that I'm looking for.

That said, Maestro/fuzzy/Harry Potter group - maybe you could stick to 5 threads, the main one + one for each group? I think that would be alright. It would also allow for player interaction much more easily.

EDIT: Maybe similar for the PokeRPG group, if we went back in time, but idk if it would work as well there.

A) Always found bookmarking as more of an inconvenience to me
B) I may end up using this, but what about if I start up a new game? It gets swallowed by the RPG threads, so it falls to the bottom and less signups.
C) I already do that.

MMO never had more than 3 active threads at once (the three 'game show' games died within the month, and the hub was inactive after like first week of January), so it never violated that rule? Also, sw's dungeon series is related in name only, so I don't really count it as one 'thing' - trust me, I ended up reviewing it.

@SK: I'm still willing to do said invisionfree thing.

I'm sorry that I don't want to litter a subforum with 17 more threads on top of the current ones, so that when a new game goes into signups, it doesn't fall to the deep within a half an hour.

Seriously. That would make 27 ACTIVE RPG threads. You don't see a problem with this?

And to answer Maestro's question:

I find it inconvenient because I know of scummers who freaking live in that thing and nearly always miss signups for games they like unless they are actively PM'd/etc. On top of that, I hardly (if ever) actively seek out threads at all. I read threads in said sub-forum and respond as necessary.

And tbf Cybele, it's two games. But there's about 10 active for one (PokeRPG), and 17 for another (Harry Potter, which is incoming).

Yeah, Pokemon is safe - and I didn't have an issue with the PokeRPG's threads and their number, because they're the only ones doing that.

Maestro/fuzzy: If you insist on having it on the forum, can I recommend you doing what LOST did and using QTs? Like seriously, since when is it ever a good idea to create 17 forums AT ONCE. And you expect everyone to be OK with this? Um, welcome to the internet.

Hello, I can set-up another forum for you guys and whatnot - it'd take MAYBE an hour and a half of work on my part. Then you can link to the forum on the site, so it's still an on-site game, so anyone who wants to watch can, and can find the forum easily etc.

Because spending a minute registering your MS username/password on another forum is time wasting

Done this multiple times. Also, moving over 'material" = copy pasting, which can be done in a matter of minutes.
Maestro wrote:another tab constantly open for both players and Mods,
I think you've missed the 5+ anon Survivors that have done this - clearly no one actually cares about this section but you. Besides, how much damage will ONE tab do. Answer: Not much
Maestro wrote:less interconnectivity with the rest of the site (e.g. Site chat as a valuable discussion/announcement area)

I'd be willing to do all the technical work and/or show you guys how to also.

That said, I'm OK with this idea of making a new sub-forum.

I responded to that because everyone else skipped over it. And I feel like an off-site forum linked in the OP of the main thread would maybe be the best way to go about it.

I've seen Survivors with a thread for each live challenge, but they're never all active at the same time. As soon as a challenge is over, that live-challenge thread dies.

Um, I understand that making Survivors is all the rage, but I'm not sure that people should be announcing a new Survivor every week. As much as I like playing in them and whatnot.

@TS: kloud and I both agree that we want to make it. However, we also decided that we don't want to sit in a queue this long - especially when I'm prone to forgetting half the info before the game starts.

Well, since there is apparently interest, I'll throw it up once I'm done with my current Black 2 playthrough. I'm just about done with the story, so it should be like a day or two. Once I hit the E4, I'll throw up the thread.

Being totally honest, I don't think I've ever watched that. I'd need to look up on it
at least
, but it could be hilarious with the given theme.

More ideas are always welcome, too.

Quick question for CC:

Because Blaziken is banned (namely because speed boost), does that mean anyone who runs it HAS to use Blaze, and without the mega stone (which gives Blaziken speed boost AGAIN, along with better stats)?

I'd assume so, or else OP :s

I'm going to throw this out there, despite not knowing the mechanics - Mega Evolutions (save a few), aren't broken when you're playing other people. They either serve an entirely different purpose (ex. Mega Absol, Mega Gengar), or do slightly more/less than they would with a Life Orb (ex. MegaChomp, MegaGyara) - also, lack of a non-Mega Stone means lack of a good item, making them even weaker.

So, for anyone who's not currently aware of the current Mega Ban (aka Ubers Tier) list, it goes as follows:

* Mewtonitw X & Y
* Blazikenite

Gengarite is currently under discussion, and Kangaskhanite is probably soon to follow.

Does the second edition have any different Haunts? If not, the Vassal version is superior.
The pieces are horrendously tiny, though - I can see his point.

Hey, anyone up for a Christmas Break Pokemon tourney? Because I'd totally love to make one if there's interest.

What game? If it's one of the few I have (Meaning not Gen5 or Gen6), I'd consider it.

Maybe use Pokemon-Online or whatever it's called?
Pokemon Showdown. And yeah, it'd be a Gen 6 OU battle, because it's both fair and allows useage of any pokemon save cover legendaries and Blaziken.

I just finished my pile of assignments and exams (12 in total!), so I'm out for Christmas.

Today's my last of three exams.
It doesn't help that I'm in a very project heavy course in general - most people have mainly exams, and many less assignments.

Also, budgeting time.

The goal isn't for everyone to win in the mole, it's for one non-mole to win at the end?In the one I played, Tragedy and KageLord were doing a final quiz to see who better knew who the mole was (me).
