Minecraft 12w30e is out now. Minecraft 1.3 Pre-release 1 will be out later today or early tomorrow. And Minecraft 1.3 will be out on 1st August. The pre-release will be identical to the release version unless some massive bug/exploit is found.

Actually, I think it might be possible to move another player with just Op powers. For instance,

/op Kc_spot
/sudo Kc_spot gm
/sudo Kc_spot tppos [X] [Y] [Z]
/sudo Kc_spot gm
/deop Kc_spot
/reload

Though that may not work if the player isn't online.

Also, if you know where a player logged out (NOT with a command, they're broken if the player isn't online), you can build a pillar there and they'll end up on top of it. Bonus points if you turn the top into a landmine so that they blow up if they try to dig down, or pour water.

I'm very sorry. I did test that before in a downloaded copy of the map and it did nothing like that.

The silverfish blocks I used were retrieved several updates ago, when they were minable with silk touch. I will be more than happy to repair the damages, or or give you the materials plus compensation. I didn't mean for anything like this to happen.

(edit: also, I mentioned it to Claus in the chat a few weeks ago and he was fine with it as a prank)

I had a look around and there can't be more than a few left. They're only a problem in large numbers and it looks like you dealt with most of them, so you should be fine just killing them if you ever come across one. Spawners only appear in dungeons/mineshafts/fortresses/strongholds. Which is why Minecraft needs bigger and better dungeons, and more structures.

So I decided to commit myself to playing "properly", instead of just derping around, overusing Enderpearls, abusing fly powers for aerial photoshoots and occasionally building a new farm. And I found the wierdest cave system. It had a regular cave intersected by an underground water pool (never seen it before). It had a mineshaft crossing a version border (never seen it before). It had water which point-blank refused to update until I actually destroyed and re-placed it (never seen... you get the idea). It had underground snow. A dungeon with three chests. A ravine well over 100 blocks long, which is supposed to be impossible. Oh, and a metric fuckton of iron.

The two teams are on small island-type things floating in the sky, made of various resources. There are three satellites nearby ffor each team, which contain extra supplies. There are also hyperspawners which activate at various points. You're not going to run out of things to do. And you can tell your teammates apart from the enemy because you're on the same island.

That said though, teams of 2 are awesome for PvP events. We can do that next Saturday if there's interest? I know myself and dappyscroo will be able to play.

Water and lava only cause lag when they are Active. Once a liquid has passed a flow test without changing in any way, it becomes Still. It will only become Active again if it receives a block update, and only briefly. When it becomes Still, it generates no more lag than any other block, because the server doesn't have to run a check every few ticks to see if it can flow. That's why Etho's original water-based BUD switch works, because still water doesn't flow unless it's updated. Also, even flowing liquid only causes lag when it's loaded. (note that I'm

not

talking about whether something is a "still" source block, there are separate blocks in the code for Active and Still liquid.

As for redstone, the only thing that causes lag when it's not in use is a redstone clock, and even then, the server should be able to cope unless there's a whole ton of them going at once. All of my redstone creations invert the state of redstone only when they are activated. The same is true for the cobble factory, the town gates, and everything else I can think of around town.

Anyway, the fact that nobody else has complained about lag means it's far more likely a problem with your connection than the server. Try rebooting your router, or make sure there are no massive data transfers ongoing.

The blaze farm is kind of a dump. As soon as I'm (temporarily) happy with my home, I'm either tearing that one apart and remodelling it, or finding two spawners and making a duel farm. It would be a lot easier if someone hadn't broken one of the spawners in the other nether fortress. Rage.

Anyway, I guess I was thinking about the wrong blaze spawner. The spawner I'd need is still there...but it's lost it's entity ID, so it's a pig spawner. And I'm pretty sure it's not just a graphical bug, because it's not spawning anything. And there's no way to fix mob spawners in Vanilla.

We're unlikely to be starting right on 15:00, but if you start late you'll be at a big disadvantage. We may do a second game or something else though.

Would you guys prefer it if I prepare some extra arenas tonight (maybe bigger ones) for further games, or we did custom maps? I'm leaning toward custom maps because a) I'm lazy and b) my laptop is derping with MCEdit again, but either is doable.

Well the map's only about 512x512 blocks, and some of the possible starting coordinates are pretty close together.

Which also means I probably don't have time to get enchantments or potions this time. Dammit.

I'm good at PvP but unaccustomed to low-level fights. Pizza has a remarkable talent for coming second. Xalxe is kinda funny. UT is pretty good in combat, he totally screwed me over when we did teams. Hindu is good with a bow, if I recall correctly.

Ok, I've got plenty of free time tommorow so I'll throw together a few more maps if MCEdit behaves. Maybe install a random teleport plugin. Or failing that, download a bunch of pvp maps.

But bear in mind last time we did an FFA, we just all started in the same spot, and nobody went further than a few hundred blocks.

By the way, we'll be running vanilla 1.3.1 tonight. I can provide a .jar if anyone needs to downgrade.

Client mods are allowed, so long as they don't give you an unfair advantage (xray, fly, etc). OptiFine is strongly recommended, it makes everything much smoother, especially in multiplayer. Inventory Tweaks, Rei's Minimap, and StatusEffectHUD are all fine.

You can probably log on, but you'll be on a glass platform at Y=256, in survival mode, and with your spawn set to the platform.
