General Rules

[01]

This is a game. Please do try to have fun. It's find if drama erupts, as this does involve some level of manipulation, but keep in mind it's a game. Have fun. Have fun.

This is a game, and you want to win.

If I make a mistake, let me know. I know I'm pretty damn close to perfect, but I'm not there

I spent a lot of time working on this game. I want you to enjoy it, but please show some respect by not ranting about one challenge you dislike in the thread. Save that for post-game, or PM me.

Game Mechanics

[01]

Endurance: Mish Mash

will be based off of the rules from the TV show Endurance. 20 people may sign up.

[02]

The winning team in Endurance is the team that obtains all thirteen pyramid pieces that will enter the game.

[03]

ENDURANCE CHALLENGES will occur once per cycle. The winner of the challenge will receive a pyramid piece and an extra item, usually a Samadhi. The Samadhi can be given to other teams to hinder their gameplay.

[04]

TEMPLE MISSIONS will occur once per cycle, and always after an endurance challenge. The winner of the mission will select two other teams to send to the Temple of Fate to face elimination.

[05]

The TEMPLE OF FATE is where teams will face off for elimination. The temple will always work the same way. Teams will select one of three elements: earth, fire, and water. After selections have been made, both elements will rise.

Wood floats on water
Water puts out fire
Fire burns wood

If a team is defeated twice, they are eliminated. Only one team will return to the game from the Temple of Fate.

FINAL CHALLENGE will occur when there are only two teams remaining. More details on the challenge will come at that time.

[07]

Some of the challenges and missions will be live, others semi-live, and others non-live. I will always make sure to give people enough warning to be online at the time of the challenge if necessary.

[08]

There are(is a) twist(s) in this game that deviate from the standard Endurance format. Be ready for anything.

I mean... does knowing the challenges really even give you an advantage? I didn't include any answers to riddles, and most challenges are endurance or skill based more than anything else. You know a twist or two, but you can't really "plan" for the twists, they just happen.

Does anyone object to Xalxe joining up? He's seen the basic outline of the game, but he doesn't know specifics.

I threw Xalxe on the list. I sincerely do not believe that him seeing the outline beforehand gives him any strategic advantage. I only showed him that so he could run a random simulator and tell me if it looked balanced/fun, and he doesn't know specifics. If any other players have a problem with him playing, you can PM me and let me know.

EDIT: Xalxe has also deleted the PMs, so he only has what he remembers... and considering the outline was four pages long, I doubt he remembers much.

Chapter 1: The Right to Stay

Hello, contestants! You've all traveled from all over the world to be here in beautiful The Whole Sort of General Mish Mash! The twenty of you are here to compete for the grand prize of fame, glory, and

eleventy-billion dollars

. But, the name of this game is Endurance... and we have to be sure you have what it takes to be Endurance-quality competitors. Only fourteen of you can make it past this starting point. And so, without any time, wasted, let's get right into our first challenge: the Right to Stay challenge.

Before you are twenty ropes, suspended over a lake. The twenty of you will grab a hold of these ropes and hang on for as long as you can. The six people who hang on for the shortest amount of time will be eliminated.

The Rules

Sometime between now, and 24 hours from now, you may start the challenge.

To start, you must post the following:

[USERNAME] grabs hold of the rope.

After 6 minutes have passed, you must post the following:

[USERNAME] continues holding onto the rope.

You must post this two more times with 6 minutes in between, for a total of three times. After your fourth time, you start to get tired. 6 minutes later, post:

[USERNAME] readjusts to continue holding onto the rope.

Again, you must post this two more times, with 6 minutes in between, for a total of three times. After your fourth time, the wind begins to blow. 3 minutes later, post:

[USERNAME] turns towards the wind and continues to hold on.

You may now continue to post the above every 3 minutes as long as you like. If you miss any post, even by 1 minute too early or too late, you will drop into the water. The six people who hold on the shortest amount of time will be eliminated.

You must start this challenge in the next (expired on 2012-05-31 22:47:29) or you will be immediately eliminated from the competition. After you've started, you may hold on as long as you possibly can.

2) You may choose to steal a t-shirt someone else already holds. The player who had his shirt stolen may then select to steal from another player, or open a new box.

This will continue until all fourteen boxes have been opened. At the end, the two players who hold the same color will be a team. If you do not make your selection within 24 hours, you will be randomized.

Chapter 3: Somebody You Used To Know

It's time for an

Endurance Challenge

! The winners of this Endurance challenge will receive a whole slew of prizes! First off, the winners of this challenge will get the Friendship pyramid piece... and wouldn't you know, the Friendship pyramid piece comes with the Triangle of Immunity attached to it! During the game, if you hold the Triangle of Immunity, you may use it before a Temple of Fate nomination to automatically exclude yourself from being nominated for that particular challenge. It's a real game changer. But that's not all... the winners will also be able to break open a Samadhi. This Samadhi will contain some sort of negative effect on the game, which they can choose to give to another team to restrict them for the next challenge!

For this challenge, I've divided the teams into two groups:

Chapter 4: A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts

Green

team

holds the Samadhi, but what does it mean for the challenge? Or rather... the

TEMPLE MISSION

! Before you are several nets, and several collections of colored coconuts.

The Rules

Each team has a net that can withstand 15 coconuts worth of weight... except for Green team, whose net can only withstand 12 coconuts worth of weight since it's weaker! Each team ALSO has 10 coconuts to distribute among all nets. One player from each team will PM me with a distribution of coconuts among the seven nets. You may put coconuts in your own net. If you go over 15 (or 12) coconuts in your net, it snaps and breaks and you're automatically out. Afterwards, the remaining nets are tallied. The net with the MOST coconuts in it will win the power to choose who goes to the Temple of Fate. If there is a tie for first, the team that put the least amount of their OWN coconuts in their OWN net will win. If there is a tie for that, a further tiebreaker will be announced.

Each team has (expired on 2012-06-09 17:03:48) to plot, scheme, and submit their coconut totals. Please make the subject of the PM

The goal is simple: be the team with the longest continuous string of blocks at the end of the game. Blocks cannot be continuous diagonally -- only to the right, left, top, or bottom. Chapter 7: SUPERTEAMS

Each team will need to assign a list of attackers and defenders (3 of each).

There are two bases with flag stockpiles in each. Each team starts with ten flags.

Attackers post:

USERNAME runs to enemy base.

(Vulnerable during this period).

+5 minutes,

USERNAME steals a flag and runs it back, bringing our total up to [#].

Defenders, you must post the following during an attacker’s vulnerable period.

Chapter 8: Double Whammy

Congratulations to the winning SUPERTEAM! You three are safe from going to the Temple. The other three, however… will all go to the temple, and all three of you will compete simultaneously. Two teams will go home. The rules are a bit different for this temple. You will still choose fire/earth/water, as usual.

If all three teams choose different elements, everybody takes a loss.

If two teams choose the same element and the third team chooses different, the stronger element deals a loss to the holders of the other elements.

If all three teams choose the same element, there is no effect.

It takes five losses to be eliminated at this temple. Each team must submit to me a list of 25 rounds of choices for the temple. The losing teams will be able to assign their pyramid pieces after the temple challenge is completed. I will call time on this in (expired on 2012-07-09 22:07:08).

Chapter 9: Gettin' Dicey

Four teams remain already! Now, you will all engage in another endurance challenge for the Luck pyramid piece and the Samadhi! Since it’s Luck, we’re dealing with dice. Liar’s dice.

If you don’t know how to play, the rules are simple: each person gets five dice. You roll the dice, but keep the results a secret. Starting with the first player, you go around the table and bet by saying: “I bet there are [X] number of [X]s on the table!” The next player can either call you a liar, or raise the bet. If you raise the bet, you must either go higher on the number of dice, or value of the dice rolled. But you can never go down in number of dice. So for example:

Allowed: I bet there are five 6s! -> I bet there are six 6s!
Allowed: I bet there are four 6s! -> I bet there are five 2s!

Not Allowed: I bet there are five 6s! -> I bet there are five 4s!
Not Allowed: I bet there are five 6s! -> I bet there are four 5s!

You have to go higher than the person before you, or call their bluff. If you want to call someone a cheat, just type “You’re a liar!” in bold. I will reveal the number of dice on the table. If it was a bluff, the bluffer loses a dice and the person who called him out gets to start the bidding. If it wasn’t a bluff, the caller loses a dice and the person who was called out gets to start the bidding. Once you lose your dice, you’re out. The game will continue until only one team is left alive.

One person from each of the remaining teams needs to send me a PM (and copy your teammate on it) with

These rounds will go for 24 hours or when everyone has submitted. The rules of RAF work as follows:

You choose to either 'shoot sky', 'shoot self', or 'shoot [playername]'.

- If you shoot yourself and nobody else shoots you, you are eliminated from the game.
- If you shoot someone else and someone else shoots you, you are eliminated from the game.

Chapter 12: Three Legs, One Race

Congratulations on making the final four! You will now play in an endurance challenge for the Heart pyramid piece and a special Samadhi. For this challenge, you and your partner will be in a three-legged race! This means you’re both tied together, so you must work together to beat the others to the finish line. After I post that the challenge has started you may post the following:

Partner 1: X Team runs one foot. [Total: 1ft]
Either Partner: X Team runs one foot. [Total: 2ft]
Partner 2: X Team runs one foot. [Total: 3ft]

The idea is that either of you may control your middle foot, but you each have to individually control your outer feet. Partner 1 may not move again until Partner 2 has posted to move his foot. Posts must be at least 3 minutes apart. If you post

too soon

, you stumble and must then wait five minutes before trying again. The race ends when someone reaches the finish line, which is 30 feet away!

You may start the challenge anytime after (expired on 2012-08-14 00:42:59), but the deadline to start it is by (expired on 2012-08-15 00:42:59).

The team who makes it in the fastest overall time wins! In the event of a tie, there will be a fire/water/wood tiebreaker.

Chapter 13: Criss-Cross

In this temple mission, your teams will need to pick one person to be a shooter, and one person to be a balancer. The four balancers will all stand on these tiny beams in the center of the lake, while the four shooters will stand on the circular pier around them.

Balancers:
You must get three markers from the end of the balance beam, back to the other side. In order to see if you can cross, you must roll a d20. In order to successfully balance your way across, you must roll higher than a 10. You must CROSS once, wait three minutes, PICK UP FLAG #X, then CROSS BACK, wait three more minutes, and place flag. When you CROSS, roll a d20. If you don’t match your current roll, you fall off and must wait five minutes to attempt to cross again. You may roll a d20 by posting:

Shooters:
You have one ball to throw. After you throw, you must wait five minutes to throw again. Throwing a ball at someone will increase their difficulty in crossing by +3. Meaning, if one person targets someone, they have to roll a 13. If two people target someone, it’s 16, three people, 19. These modifiers apply to their NEXT cross roll. Simply post:

Getting a ball tossed at you means the NEXT time you attempt to cross, you need 10+3x to cross.

Also, when you don't succeed at a dice attempt, any +3 stacks you had on you go away. They don't stay til the end o' time.

At the time designated below, I will send each member of your team a list of three imgur links. These links will take you to images... what they are, you will have to discover for yourself. In order to win the challenge, your team must figure out what the six images are and put them

in the correct order

. Once you figure out what these images mean, the order should not be too hard to figure out for yourself.

Chapter 18: The Big Finish

Here we are, at the final challenge. Whoever walks away here goes home with ALL the marbles, so without further ado, let's get busy!

Grey team

, after the dearly departed's generous donations, you have

pyramid pieces to play with.

Red team

, you have your

pieces.

Before you, you will see a number of coconut shells. For the first round, there are three shells. The team with the least amount of pyramids goes first. They can cover as many possible spots on the board with their pyramids, but they must always leave at least one open for the other team to take. Whatever spots aren't taken by the first team, the second team will automatically fill in the rest of the slots. After the pyramid pieces are placed, I will reveal where the golden pyramid was located. The team with their pyramid piece on that spot gets all of the pyramid pieces on the board.

As I said Day 1 of this game... the winners are the ones who control ALL of the pyramid pieces. Once one team has them all the other team has nothing left, they will be the winners of Endurance: Mish Mash!
