Rules
(stolen and modified in the night from VasudeVa)

Please read over the rules carefully. I've
bolded
things that may be specific to this game for skimmers' convenience.


On Gameplay


  • 1. I have the final say in any form of dispute.
    2. Although I am a handsome moderator, I am not infallible. Feel free to point out any mistake by PMing me or by a bolded message in thread.
    3. The moderator likes
    Pansy Purple (#8800BF)
    for important things. Don't use that colour. This is a modkillable offense.
    4. All game-related communication between the mod and players STAY between the mod and the players. Breaking this rule results in copious modkills.
    5. All game-related communication between players STAY in the thread
    unless explicitly stated otherwise
    . Talking about the game outside of the thread without the mod's approval is a modkillable offense.
    6. Falsifying the mod is a modkillable offense. I am the judge of whether I have been falsified or not.
    7. Small or invisible text as a secret communication is disallowed.
    Cryptography is also disallowed.

    8. Loopholes are bad and dick-ish. Modkills may ensue.
    9. Modkills revert the player's role into a Neutral Survivor. The player then dies a painful death, losing the game for themselves and embarrassing their family.


On Voting, Activity and Deadlines


  • 0. This game is Cease-Fire
    Night Start
    - there will be no deaths N0.
    1. Please aim to post at least once a day. (The more the merrier!)
    2. V/LAs are to be announced in thread and bolded.
    3. Players who don't post in
    48 hours
    will be prodded. Players have 24 hours to respond to a prod or they will be force replaced. Players may request prods on a specific player via a bolded message in thread.
    4. A 'three strikes and you're out' rule on prods and replacement is enforced. That is, three prods and you're force replaced.
    5. This game has a
    two week deadline
    on D1, and
    one week deadlines
    thereafter. Keep in mind that your mod is a very busy (and very handsome) man, so I may be a little flexible on this to allow myself time to sleep. There will be deadline countdowns to help enforce timely conduct.
    6. Votes/Unvotes may be done either by bolding your Votes or using Vote tags. If you don't use tags, colons (:) make my life a lot easier. Usernames may be shortened but it has to be easily discernible. Example: VOTE: AV (although I don't know WHY you'd ever want to vote AV)
    7. Unvotes are nice but not required.
    8. Lynches need a majority (half the number of living players +1) to go through
    unless explicitly stated otherwise
    .
    9. A No lynch needs 50% of the votes.
    10. A No Lynch will happen at deadline without a full lynch majority.
    11. Once you're dead, please don't post
    unless explicitly allowed by the mod
    .
    I will allow one Bah! style post
    , so long as it contains no game related information.
    12. The Lynched may speak during Twilight (ie. before the mod posts the death scene).
    13. Play to win!


Clarity Rules

This is a subset of rules for theme games that moderators can add on to their normal rules. It was designed to help minimize swing in theme games and reduce some of the vagaries of moderator preference/implementation. The idea is to give players a baseline set of information so they can focus on the mechanics of the theme without having to worry about extraneous factors that can over-complicate games.


  • 1. This is an 8p Micro Semi-Open.
    2. There are no third parties, cults or jesters.
    3. The setup is 6:2.
    4. This is a
    full reveal
    game. Players will flip with their full role and alignment.

How it worksPlayers are randomly assigned to a column.
All players must submit
two
preferences for components from within that column.
Players will gain their first preference guaranteed.
In the event of two players choosing the same component, a coin will be flipped to determine who gets their first choice, and who gets their second.
All other components of the role are randomly assigned amongst players, with one component taken from each column.
There will be no duplicates.

What does it all mean?!


Negative:

Trolled:
When you target someone, you will "copy" their negative effect. This effect is cumulative.

Slow:
Your actions will happen the following day or night. For instance, if you Vig someone N1 the vig will go through N2.

Brazen:
When you target someone, your action and what you actioned with will be known to a random member of the opposite faction at the end of the night.

Miller:
You will always appear "guilty" to investigative reports.

Loving:
If your target is lynched the following day, you will die as well.

Hated:
You take one less vote than normal to lynch. For example, with 5 to lynch, you only require 4 votes to lynch.

Magnetic:
After you target someone, you must subsquently target them for the rest of the game whenever you wish to action as long as they are alive. If they die, the process starts over.

Macho:
You cannot be protected from kills in any way.


Positive:

The first kill on you will not work.

Vengeful:
When you are lynched, you can choose to kill someone on your wagon.

Ascetic:
All night actions directed at you are reflexively roleblocked and have no effect except kills.

Bending:
You may redirect any actions used on you during the day to a target of your choosing.

Ninja:
Does not count as visiting for any actions.

Loved:
Takes 1 more vote to lynch than the rest of the players.

Copying:
When you target someone, you will "copy" their positive effect. This effect is cumulative.

Neighborizing:
Gain a QT with your target each night. For every target there will be a fresh QT.


Utility:

Normal night use, you have no role restrictions.

Psychic:
When you action, submit a guess as to what your target's role is. If you guess correctly, you gain a second shot of your action to be used at your discretion.

Day:
You may only use your power during the day.

Non Consecutive:
You may not use your power two nights in a row.

Double-Shot:
You have two shots of your power which you may use either at the same time or spread across different nights.

Anxious:
You can only action during the day before the halfway point of the deadline. For example, if the deadline is 7 days, you can only action in the first 3 1/2 days of the phase.

Gladiatorial:
You can only use your action during the night on people who voted for you during the day.

Bloodthirsty:
If there is ever a no-lynch, you cannot action on the following night. However you can action normally like 'Unlimited' if this is not the case.


Roles:

Cop/Rolecop:
Cop for town, Rolecop for scum. Cops will receive either "Guilty or Innocent". Rolecops will receive their targets Role (e.g Doctor, Roleblocker, etc).
Day Version - Cop/Rolecop:
No difference.

Doctor:
Protect your target from kills. No self doctoring.
Day Version - Governor:
After the majority has been hit during twilight if you so wish you can reverse the lynch and prevent the lynchee from being lynched.

Tracker:
Track your target during the night to find out who he visited.
Day Version - Gunsmith:
Find out whether your target owns a gun. Includes mafia, vigilantes and cops.

Watcher:
Watch your target during the night to find out who visits him or her. No self watching.
Day Version - Blacksmith:
Find out whether your target is a protective role. Includes doctors and jailkeepers.

Vigilante:
Kill somebody during the night.
Day Version - Vigilante:
No difference.

Redirector:
Your targets actions will be redirected into a secondary target of your choosing.
Day Version - Vote Thief:
Target someone, they lose their vote for today and it becomes yours.

Roleblocker:
Your target will not perform any actions. You stop their role from working for a night.
Day Version - Vote Blocker:
Target someone, their vote is nullified for the rest of the day, meaning they cannot vote/its useless.

Jailkeeper:
Your target is both Doctored and Roleblocked, meaning they cannot be killed and they will not perform any actions.
Day Version - Warden:
Your target is Vote Blocked and cannot be lynched for that day.

Actually, I think Salamence gambited correctly with his role. Considering he could only vig people who voted him, declaring himself in favour of a NL was a good way to garner votes on something that probably wasn't scummy enough to see him lynched.

The roles did shake out fairly well in the end. It would have been good if "vengeful" tripped guilty to a gunsmith as that would have meant GNR was not clear, but I decided at the start that it was only mafia, vigs and cops. Macho Bulletproof was my favourite, and Slow Gladiatorial Vig actually took care of one of mine and Timmy's worries pre-game -- that the vig kills would mean this game was over far too quickly. Actually, the high proportion of kill-stopping roles also contributed (docs, JKs, RBs, redirectors) as well, but I liked that the vig wasn't as all powerful as it could have been.

Double-Shot cop dropping was terrifying for me, though, as I hurt to think what would happen with that role N0. Not taking it was probably for the best for the game! Although -- I don't think anyone actioned N0 at all! Here are all the roles and actions as they happened:

I considered making it via NKs as well, buuut it woulda been a few too many kills flying around.

I think scum got outmaneouvered really.
GNR's blocks (in conjunction with MoI at the end) tipped it against them - bare in mind that if GNR hadn't gotten the block off on IceGuy, it would have been a very different outcome -- a kill on N1, even with IceGuy lynched D2, would've resulted in the 3p lylo with drmyshotgun quick-hammered.

Scum getting Vengeful helped nullify the blocks, and the misVig meant that town still had as many members killed as if this had been a straight NK game.

Umm, what else...
Oh, both Utility players went for Day as their top choice. I realised that it was probably because Day is like Unlimited, but also can't be blocked and a WHOLE lot more powerful given that you can out results there and then.

I'm not sure if this game can ever really be balanced in favour of the scum -- whaddya think? Would it run as is again, or would I need to tweak it?

Well my next micro will be a Lucid Dreamers, and after that I have something else planned as a test pilot for the Mini Queue, but I will definitely rerun this with a few tweakers here and there. Loved/Hated I decided to let loose as it was advertised as potentially bastard but I can see where you're coming from. If anyone has any suggestions for changes, additions or things to get rid of, let me know! :D

I think the gamut of kill preventing roles plus the modifiers in the setup should generally take care of too many kills - but there is the potential for it to be all over by n1, which isn't ideal.
