Its just a good spirited jab that fits the whole situation.

I don't support the other Om titles. Not because of the campaigning, but because I just don't think whatever he did is actually memorable, funny, or recognition worthy. However, doing something trivial, getting a title nom, and then campaigning for that nom gives me a chuckle as it is like a child desiring to have the most gold stars in his class. Its probably the best that can come out of the situation.

(one may argue that all titles are just gold star analogues to begin with making gold star as a title a bit redundant, however)

RE: Gold Star and Om - I thought that Gold Star would be a better fit because there's a token of humility with it. Om, you can't expect to campaign endlessly for a title and not expect people to tease you about it. This community really frowns on self-hype. Titles are supposed to be funny, not badges of honour. Look at Oman. If you're not willing to poke fun at yourself, you're really not getting the point of titles IMO.

Immediate issue that springs to mind: Oman would have to remember and be available to open and close it once a month.

Crap might be lowered, but good stuff would certainly be harmed. Having to hold/remember all the title suggestions will decrease the rate of nominations, which is NOT what we need right now (we just need less crap mixed in).

Having nominations go by PM/form to the Title Fairy, who then puts them forward for comment every so often, might work, however. It's a pretty big shift though.

I wouldn't mind a title like that if it didn't sound like a preschool teacher was rewarding me for good behaviour. I'm 13, gold stars don't mean anything to me, getting days off from school are more my thing.

Ugh, sorry, I've just been really stressed lately, school has been really draining on my spirit.
I get it now, I shouldn't have campaigned for my title, but frankly I was just so excited at the thought of getting one I just couldn't let it go.
About the Gold Star title and not being able to take a joke, I know it was meant jokingly but initially I took it the wrong way and thought it had malicious intent. That, paired with the stress of my life caused me to overreact way more than I should have. I still don't really like the title that much, since I don't think it fits the best parts of me, which should really be what titles are about. But I'm fine whether I have a title or not.
