It is different enough, that it feels like a completely different game. I have played a little bit to try it out.

The biggest difference is that "Adventure" is stressed a lot more than "building". There are dozens of different enemy types. Lots of different weapons, fast ones, wide ones, etc. I heard they have bosses and special enemy zones too, but I didn't see those.

On the other hand, you cannot build a mega structure like you can in Minecraft, climb a mountain far away and admire it at a distance. Since you don't have zoom out, the scope of what you can build is kinda limited. You have access to lots of interesting blocks and cool furnitude, but the lack of a third dimension limits creativity a bit.

All in all, a cool game, even though I prefer MC.

Not sure if I agree, UA. I think he actually does need to dig deeper. You are right in the sense that digging deeper is not simply digging down, but also exploring the caves to see how you can get as low as possible with the least ammount of effort. But in the upper levels, this still means a lot of digging.

I think UA was mistaken there. There is only one "Dungeon", which is near one of the ends of the map, and has an old man in the front. There are also some small dungeon-like buildings in one of the biomes underground, but that biome is not your tier yet. I think he meant the larger caves that mb53 said.

this is actually the reason I've avoided joining the MS server. I got Terraria on Day 1, and played with a friend so we could learn the game together. Then one of his friends who had pirated the game joined our server, did pretty much everything, and kept giving us stuff. Before the day was over, I had full necro armor, a grappling hook, and a Ball O' Hurt, and I had never gotten to Grey Wall depth or even destroyed a Shadow Orb. Pretty much ruined the game for me.

I agree. I joined the MS server on day 1, dug a bit, built a small house and left. A day later most bosses had been killed, people already had ivy whips, etc, etc. Lost a bit the will to log in again.

If anyone would like to start from scratch on a small world, and play 1-2 hours every other day at a set time, drop me a line on a PM.

Chronopie, don´t take it that harshly. You are an amazing player. But you are playing in the Multiplayer World as if it was a Single Player World, and people don´t see too much fun in that. If you login and find yourself alone in the world, build instead of exploring Or log to another world instead.

Hint - don't play it all at once, the game is good, but you can burn out of it pretty quickly too.

Can you have multiple characters? (I ask because my wife may want to play this as well.)

You can have 5 characters and 5 worlds, and any character can play in any world (so you and your wife can play in the same world).

I´m excited about armor stands. I fucking wanted those from day 1.

I wouldnt' say infinitely replayable. For its price, it has a lot of replay value, but once you manage to solo the endgame bosses a few times, meh.

It was fun while it lasted.

More like: play terraria crazily for a week or two, forget about it for 6-10 months, rinse, repeat

By the way, Ythan, have you seen the webpage for "starbound"? It is the new game being produced by Tyi & Co (Tyi the artist for terraria). Sounds very promising

Honestly the fact that there are multiple worlds, the improved graphics are more than enough for me.

Yeah, the building right now is exactly like terraria, but Terraria was quite solid in that aspect. No problems there.
