Lowercase like that?

I was thinking something like
Hate Magnet
- she's polarizing for no obvious reason. But that might be too rough of a title. singularity is subtler.

All the rules are really guidelines if the TF disagrees/overrules them. It's just that avatars have historically not provided many good titles, so it's better to stem the tide.

I think the Six Month rule is better than the old 100-post rule, but may be slightly too long. Not strongly tied one way or the other, though.

Oh. IDGI then... we always try to stop people from discussing dead titles/completely offtopic crap in TF threads. It sometimes works (usually better when the TF isn't burnt out, cf: Oman in late 2012)

Gotta agree with Tierce, but I'm a filthy pagan purist. Either is good.
In post 830, Tierce wrote:Minor nitpick: demon = malevolent, while daemon (daimon) is a class of beings from Greek myth, many of them actually benevolent. (The Roman version of daemons included the Lares, for example.)

The root of the word is the same, but they mean different things. In this case, you're looking for the
demon
version, not the
daemon
one.

and
Hardasss
for TBM, as well as various incarnations of the Fairy meme which aren't really gaining a whole lot of traction IMO.

The spelling thing is pretty compelling to me, but I'll let TBM veto it if he wants. Will probably make a decision after the weekend if no other strong contenders come forward. Keep talking!

Seeing as the
obsession with TBM's backside
support is basically unanimous, I am only waiting on TBM's non-veto to go forward.

Just no.
  1. It's based off another user's title
  2. It doesn't do a good job of describing the user
  3. It's dull and unimaginative
  4. It has nothing to do with the site
  5. Being gay is no longer noteworthy on the site
  6. We can do better for ActionDan

chesskid actually talks/talked up the Princeton thing a lot, on the site. It's ironic and amusing. This is a bad suggestion and you should feel bad for suggesting it.

Why can't it be both?
I think the Jake title is a stretch, way moreso than the notsci one.

I'm not opposed to it, but I feel like Title/Scummy is the better fit.

Yeah it is. You just have to make it something like:

This is my title which I was awarded

for being exceptionally verbose. I'm trying to get

better about it but it is difficult to be concise. That doesn't

mean that it isn't important to be concise, just that I struggle

with it at times, which only serves to emphasize for me how important it is

to be concise, and not verbose.

Title Fairy Policy:

5. Recipients must approve of the title.
6. This thread is for title discussion only.
I think Buttons needs to exercise his authority. Abuse of Rule #5 is causing the spirit of Rule #3 to be violated. People, like mastin (& there have been others), are constantly refusing perfectly fine titles because they want to nudge towards a preferred title.

The Titling on his site has been a fine tradition of "hey, we as a site recognize you as having made a great, funny, and/or super interesting contribution to this site. Here's a title!" to which the recipient responds with "Hey! I don't find that title insulting! So be it!" Then the Title Fairy acts and all are happy.

Now lately it's a series of manipulative jockeying of "no.. that's not quite right. Try again, peons! I DEMAND BETTER!" and the fun is dead.

This happened on your watch, Buttons. Either fix it or let it be your shameful legacy.
Not to defend mastin2's own ego, but if people aren't happy with title nominations, they shouldn't have to accept them, no matter how popular. Rule #3 is there to stop anyone just walking in and asking for a title like in the old days, not to prevent universally known and popular users actively participating in the process of their own titling. At least, that's how I see it. TheButtonmen can and should correct me if I'm wrong here.

(Not that it really matters much now, anyway.)
Hence why we should stop renomming people right after they reject one. Okay, you didn't like it, see you in six months when you've done something new and different for us to title off of.

It's the back-and-forth between the nominators and the nominee that gets into this sense of "you're getting warmer..."

thingamajig is the only halfway decent mollie one so far.

Also, as to the question of user preference: If there are several viable (2nd'ed/5th'ed, I think per TBM) options and no strong community preference, then yes the user can get to pick/vote for their own. Otherwise all they generally get is veto power. Doing more tends to cause a backlash from the titling community.

I can't think of who you're talking about, so... maybe not? Then again I don't play/review much right now.

That's actually a neat trick. Name the title and see if anybody can figure out who it is for. If not, it's probably not a good title.

Varsoon's title isn't an insult. It's just a reference to his oddness... I don't know where this idea that it is rewarding bad play comes from.
