At the risk of taking away from my point, Im going to write this underneath. There is a few users who consistently "forget" or have decided to ignore what this community can offer them. And they just get more angry or disillusioned with the site, but for some reason they don't amend their behaviour or leave. As I say, I haven't left this side because of people like quadz, reck, glork, oman, cay, jay, blah blah blah... who have helped create a network which relies on each other and is built on mutual respect. Which is earned and can be lost. I mean once you get past the mafia, you can either have friendship or what is the point in being here?

Good thread, Will. I too have realized I was kind of an asshole before, and am taking steps to correct it. I want to be a part of the big happy family you talked about in your post. I am seriously considering dropping a thou on flying up to NC for your meet, even though the thing I was gonna do there didn't pan out. Maybe. We'll see. Good thread though, and like someone else said, it hit me right in the feels.

My only issue with you is that your avatar makes me think it's starbuck posting and then I realize it's just you and I'm sad. =(

I love all of you guys and once I have ze moneys im hosting a meet and you are all coming *_*

I'm in for any meet on Canadian soil.

Also, Reck, thanks for reminding me of this. Every now and then I wonder why I keep coming to this site, then I go on scumchat and remember how awesome this community is. You should do a summer meet sometime. I hear NC is a nice place, and I'm pretty sure half of my favourite scummers live there now. Plus the Brock and Brock confusion would be fun.

I haven't been a part of a community like MS. It seems like anywhere else you go, when you bring up a F2F meet, people say you'll wind up hacked, slashed or abducted by a serial killer. Thankfully we have kept our killers in game roles only - so far. I may hold the record for attending the most meets (4 if you count a random visit), and I have the time of my life at every single one of them.

Oh the memories of Caffwagon, yes yes! I remember (kinda) hooking dram and Reck up. I remember him telling me not to act awkward when the first thing he does is run in and lip lock dram. Squashing the beef with Ether (but she said there was none). Trying desperately to get even a small buzz off numerous BOTTLES KHAN of sake I had brought, to no avail. Having...ELEVEN player vengefuls. Explaining mafia to our waitress at the nearby diner. Karaoke... :dead: I guess I wasn't that bad of a singer but your mind always wonders how people will judge you if you sound terrible.

Reck is a fun guy. I visited him, Brock and dram (DAT BIG LOVE) at some random point. Brock is so lovable and that accent is so good at lowering my defenses. I felt comfortable around him even without dram and Reck in the same room - they call you a bama here in DC if you act country  . Little known fact is that I was mostly raised in the south, so I never got to use my natural voice in school without catching shit. I think Brock played his first game of mafia at that time. Ythan is cool as shit too. He was like a real life version of Kevin Pereira if that makes sense.

Goofbash tied closely with my brother's wedding extravaganza as my 2011 highlight, even though I didn't stay long. We took bets on whether Katsuki was male or female..everyone betted male so. I was also surprised Fate was a handsome young man instead of..like, what you'd probably think Fate would be. DGB and Bert were veryveryvery gracious host, as they say. My father had to be rushed to the hospital, and I couldn't thank them enough for letting me stand by the phone and computer so I could be updated that night - AND THE LIFT TO THE TRAIN STATION. I cannot wait for another chance to meet you scummers north of the border - AND MY EUROPEAN FRIENDS.

I got to hang out with Blackberry and his crew a few times while he was here in DC. We went to this club called Town and, apparently, I was sucking face with the short version of R.Kelly. Blackberry thought he was too old so I never called him. The place was too dark for me to really analyze face/age but he smelled nice..and his chin was all tickly wickly.

The Reckoning family already knows they the shit. I don't think it's possible to get bored with so many fun characters in one place. The only thing I don't like is that I sat in John's chair in my underwear. :? That's the one thing I'd take back but I'd keep the pants off.

TLDR mafiascum too stronk.

What the hell you guys actually betted on that?

Guess Fate was the only one who was actually shocked that Katsuki wasn't female. :P

In post 22, Kublai Khan wrote:Well, it's more than my wife just views this site as "something that takes up my time" and the whole concept of the game isn't interesting to her at all (we are opposites in very many ways but love each other very much).

And the idea of travelling to meet people I met over the inter raises all sorts of red flags for her, which I can't necessarily disagree with since I'd be very hesitant to let her go travel to meet Internet strangers too.

So I like the community and I like (most) of the individuals, but I doubt it'd get much more serious than that.

I'm totally in your shoes here, but I'd love to go to a meet at some point.

thanks for sharing, reck.

I, too, have much respect for the community here, and that post in particular. It was obviously heart felt. I also suspect the reason most people stay is more so because of the people than any game of mafia could ever aspire to.

I've liked an exceedingly high number of the people I've interacted with on this site. I haven't made it to a meet yet, but I certainly would like to, at some point.
