The idea is that certain town's people could gain abilities if they successfully sought out certain other town's people at night. I like that it adds a dimension to the analysis of players because of the high numbers with night actions.

While it wasn't the case in Red Wall Mafia, I think this idea also has the potential to create interesting interactions between a game and its flavour.

I'm torn on this. While I agree that the mechanic itself is interesting and has potential to be quite entertaining and modify the game in a positive way, I'm a) not positive that it's totally original (it could be, I'm honestly not sure), and b) more importantly, I don't think it was well-executed on the Mod's part. DY has heard my perspective on the situation already (it's in the Dead QT and game thread in post-game discussion), so I won't re-hash it here.

I think the reasons people like Best/Funniest Role Claim is because it is a non-serious award.

It is just there for the lolz of it all, most of the time.

We need

more

lolz awards, not less, IMO. Mafia is all srsbsns on this site, and that's fine. I like it that way, for the most part. However, there's no reason we can't celebrate the stuff that isn't that way. Funniest role claim was a superb way to do that. Even if we just do a "Funniest Post in a Mafia Game" award (which is broader than Role Claim) I think it would be good. We need a solid mix of serious "you dun good" awards and chilled-out/not that big of a deal/look back on the funtimes awards.

Here is the post in which the claim was made. (He was actually a regular bodyguard.) His claim was a huge factor in ensuring Town victory.

*shrug* the scumteam was awful; the town was decent, but I wish we'd seen them against people who were not clueless. >_>

I'm just going to throw in my two cents about Detective Mafia. I'm not interested in an argument; I just want to throw in a perspective of someone who was on the other side of the debate for the judges to consider.

I think the town played a decent game, but other than the Amrun lynch, everything led directly from the N1 actions. Nuwen was lynched because MoI tracked her to the roleblocked gunsmith. Had MoI been killed (as was our intent), that would never have happened. After the Amrun lynch followed (first day was a doubleday), the rest of the game was "follow plan"; it was more-or-less broken open at that point by night action plans and PoE. Scum played very incohesively, and by no means do I think we deserved a win in that game, but I do question that this town was really one of the best towns that has been seen over the course of this year.
