Challenges do usually get reviewed by xalxe before hand (and some challenges would have worked quite a bit worse without the review).

Excuse reason is I still can't predict the days I need to go to the doctor and am stuck sick (if anyone really thinks that's a lie then scanning and posting an image of a list of medicines I'm stuck taking for a while is pretty easy to do). I'm sorry the challenge is late but honestly I can't say it's fun for me either to deal with being ill and missing stuff.

Anyways challenge:

Who is it?

Goal: Require the least number of plates to be removed. For any picture not done gain 15.

Explanation: Each team will be pmed one picture that will be divided into 25 pieces. One of those pieces will be visible while the others will be greyed out. Each picture is something I got online that shows one mario character. It will never be a super rare unknown character and while it won't be mario it shouldn't be too bad. After you get the picture you have two choices. Guess the character or ask to see another plate (aka another 1/25 of the picture will be revealed). If you guess wrong then you're forced to see another plate. Each time you see another plate (the 1st one in a picture doesn't count) you gain a point. Remember the goal is to have the lowest number of points not highest. You also can not choose what plate to remove (it's decided beforehand the order they're removed for each picture which is mostly random).

The first image is slightly off on that (one pixel column on left edge can be seen from the start) but mostly follows that so it's a bit easier starting.

Now when you get the character right you'll have a new picture that starts out again with only 1/25 of the picture revealed and the process repeats itself. You need to do a total of 5 pictures like this (the pictures the two tribes have and the order plates are removed for them is the same).

Time Limit: The only limit is you have 24 hours to get the 5 pictures done from the time your tribe receives the first picture.

That actually usually happens if it helps ease any of you. I think since the time xalxe became back up mod except for grid pics I've shown him all the challenges in full except for the last 2 (this one he knew something like the summary and one pic ahead of time) where the trivia one I didn't think it'd need to be reviewed, the one he hosted where I didn't give him the questions but the rules and let him modify as needed, and battle air ship.

Quick Draw

Summary: The goal is to eliminate every member of the other tribe first.

Expansion: Each player starts with 2 hearts. There is only one way to lose a heart. It's if you get shot. Every turn there'll be 1 trivia question. The first player to get it right will have the right to shoot one player on the other tribe (when you answer also say who you want to shoot to help speed things up). Once you hit 0 you are out and can no longer answer trivia. Turns will keep on going until one tribe is fully eliminated and only last as long as it takes for someone to get a question right and choose someone to shoot. Trivia will not be as hard as I usually make them. A player can only guess once for each question.

Elektrosprint being german isn't common knowledge but that word + mario is enough to make the top result give you the answer.

Xofelf the main problem is it's fully intentional on the trivia. Name any one of the trivia I gave in the last challenge and I can give you a few key words to get it. The other ones are worded shoddy to avoid google (in fact I actually try to google the answers to my own questions using their words to check how easy it is to search). They are intentionally designed to take a while. I've seen even harder trivia. And I've answered trivia were I had to answer in under a minute. The trivia my ideal behind it is simply different (I've actually hosted a game of pure mario trivia too in the past). The questions necessitate searching because otherwise if they're common knowledge it becomes even more about reaction speed then they already are.

Next how many people it needs to win a challenge being low is also by design for the most part. I don't like having a tribe lose if it has two less members online. I'd rather any person always have a chance of winning. 1 person being able to win a challenge while it isn't always true is something I want.

As for mistakes on trivia I accept that's my fault. There isn't much for me to say on it.

Challenge wise mention an idea and I'm fairly willing to use it. If you want something non grid, non luck, non my other, non trivia then ask for it. At the same time challenges again are usually reviewed and have been in worse states without review by xalxe. I do ask him to help me in checking challenges and while I can't say I've done that for all of them I have done so for the majority since he became co mod.

That mostly covers it (simply because I don't want to bring real life into this).

They are searchable for the live ones. I've dealt with far more trivia in the past then this game contains (beyond hosting playing in a series of trivia games, reading about 9/10 other mario survivors, and other games with mario trivia) I've given trivia in the past of a similar difficulty as this without any problems or difficulty complaints. The only one that wasn't really direct google was still looking at lists quickly of mario party mini games for the stratosFear question.

As for internet speed it's something I've heard mentioned in the past but at the same time after seeing hundreds if not thousands of them it's usually not the make or break (beyond simply searching questions do tend to have a pattern like the vast majority all game have been directly based upon mario wiki so searching their directly trumps google as well).

10 questions were answered in under 40 minutes. At the beginning I said questions should be done under 5 and it averaged to around 4 minutes. So difficulty and search wise it was pretty close to my goal.

Ready, Aim, Fire (if you want a mario name call it Ready, Aim, Fireball)

This challenge is both simple and something you've likely played before.

Rules

1. You may take three actions. Shoot yourself, shoot another player, or shoot no one. All actions should be pmed (you can wifom as much as you want in thread though)
   
2. If you are shot you die with one exception. If you are shot two or more times and one of the shots was by yourself everyone who shot you except you dies.
   
3. This challenge uses 24 hour turns. At the same time for the sake of progression the first 24 hours will have you make two actions (one for turn 1 and one for turn 2). Conditionals are allowed (like shoot sky/no one for turn 1, and shoot xalxe for turn 2 if he's alive otherwise shoot myself). Actions will naturally only apply for turn 2 if you're still alive then (you can't shoot while dead). If there's multiple people alive after turn 2 then there will be a turn 3 that'll be 24 hours long.
   
4. The last person alive wins. If everyone dies in a turn then it is possible to have no winner. Winner gets immunity.

If you need clarification on rules ask. It's standard ready, aim, fire with living at the end being the immunity goal and two actions sent in the first 24 hours as the one main rule change.

As for the klick decision expect it tonight and thanks to anyone who sent me a pm for ideas on dealing with it.

As for the decision on what to do with Klick it's three fold. A. He's eliminated without anyone returning. B. By removing him that leaves 8 with 6 eliminations or an even number of possible jury votes. To keep the intention of having an odd number of votes (which is just to avoid tied votes) the last person eliminated becomes our first juror (ultimator). C. The last change is minor and something I've pmed to person/people it relates too (aka isn't something I'll reveal til the game finishes).

Star Game

This challenge is based on the coin game with slight rule modification.

A. Each player starts with 600 stars.
B. Each period (24 hours) each player will have to bid any number of stars they'd like. I'll update either after 24 hours or once I have all the bids and am online (and send bids to xalxe too).
C. The two players who bid least will both be eliminated for the first two rounds. If three or more people tie then the people who tie will have to rebid until two are eliminated.
D. The player or players who bid the 3rd least stars get their stars back.
E. When we get to the final 2 there will be 5 boxes each worth one point. The two players left can bid however many stars they have remaining on each box and the higher bid wins that box/point. The one who gets 3 or more boxes wins.

If anyone needs any rule clarifications just ask.

I'm not sure if anyone is a genius at music in which case I'd be fine changing the challenge if desired. Essentially this challenge involves making an MIDI with a program called Mario Paint Composer. Rules are

A. You have 24 hours to make a tune.
B. You can not tell any player still in the game what your tune is or hint to what it is.
C. After 24 hours each tune will be posted by me without saying who made it. Each remaining player will vote for the tune they like best that isn't their own.
D. Here's a link to where you can quickly download the program (it's a simple program and it isn't made for expert tunes).

Give me a few minutes to explain (and figure out) how to export songs (if there's anything else anyone wants explained just ask). It'll likely be a bit indirect but nothing complicated.

There are possibly easier ways to do this but here's the simplest I found. When you want to send me your song (and you can always change to something else later) the folder mario composer is in contains a folder call prefs. All of your song names should be there (I believe it's whatever you title the song + a bracket + MarioPaint) in txt files. Copy and paste the text in the file and send it to me. I'll later simply post the text labeling each tune as separate. Copy the text for the tunes that aren't yours and paste it into any txt file in the prefs folder that is one of the tunes you have (making 4 blank tunes to paste other peoples tunes into would work). Then you should be able to listen to it from mario composer.

If anyone needs a more detailed explanation on that ask.

Sending me the text file of something you didn't make with the format the program uses when you normally make ones while not impossible isn't nearly as simple as linking to a video.

I guess the easiest rule fix is just don't simply copy + paste from another tune completely.

Step 1: Click on the url and download the program (about 8 MB).
Step 2: Go through standard installation (should take only a few minutes).
Step 3: Go to the folder where the download was put and open the program. It'll likely ask to extract the folder and say yes. If it asks you to extract it after it quickly finishes goes in the extracted folder (which I think is stored in he same place) and open the program.
Step 4: With the program open messing around with it a few minutes should likely help show how it works. Essentially you place a lot of different symbols on music paper (not sue what the name for it is) and the higher the higher note similar to reading songs or playing instruments. Each symbol makes it's own noise and the location of the symbol is the pitch and when it happens (the program plays from left to right). There's I think 2/3 other things you can mess with like tempo if you want but that's the core of it.
Step 5: Once you make a tune you like click the save button in the program.
Step 6: Go to the mario composer program folder, enter a sub folder called prefs, open the notepad file with the same name as the tune you saved in step 5 and copy and paste that txt to me.

That url Nich gave is an example of what can be produced from this program although that level of music isn't something I'd expect for a short challenge like this.

Similar to the last challenge each person submits one thing. This time it's a memoir. Specifically on your experience with mario video games. If you've never played a mario game (which I doubt considering this is a mario survivor) then one on your experience with video games in general is doable. Don't name yourself in writing and all submissions are pmed to me. Remember the story is not a fanfic but a mario memoir and something that is a fanfic would automatically not be vote-able. After 24 hours I'll post the submissions and the remaining 4 will vote on ones that aren't theirs. If you do not vote then it counts as a negative vote towards yourself.

Ah, yes, Mario games. I'm sure most, if not all, of the people remember playing Mario games when they were younger, beacuse I sure have. I still (vaguely) remember my first Mario game from the NES era. It was quite an interesting beginning for me. However, I didn't get to play a multitude of Mario games, which puts me a bit behind in the franchise as a whole.

In my early years, I remember playing Super Mario Bros 1-3 quite often. Each and everyone of them had different outcomes. In SMB1, I had quite a bit of trouble with getting very far in the game. In SMB2, I believe I did get to probably around World 3 or 4, but it still wasn't to completion. Super Mario Bros 3, on the other hand, was like a masterpiece to me.

Later on in life, I started getting into the N64 games. Yes, I never had a SNES, so I never played Super Mario RPG or Super Mario World. Anyway, my first game I remember playing was Mario Tennis, which was probably an interesting game as a whole. I also remember playing Mario Party 1, 2 and 3, especially 3, since I actually have that game. The minigames from those games were amazing and were quite fun to play back then, especially the button masher minigames. People always hated playing those against me (they still do today). One other game I remember playing was Mario Kart 64. There's not really much to say about this game, as I wasn't that great of a gamer back then.

During the Gamecube generation, I remember playing quite a few games. Super Mario Sunshine was probably the most unusual game I've seen in up until this point in my life, due to the fact that a lot of the game focuses around water and using it for platforming and puzzles. Then Mario Kart: Double Dash came along. This game, along with Mario Party 5, became my most favorite games of the generation for the Mario franchise. Then again, all three games I have listed were very innovative in their own ways.

The only two systems that I can't really say much about are the Wii and the GBA. I didn't get very many games for either of them. For the GBA, I had Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Party Advanced. For the Wii, I only had Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii and New Super Mario Bros Wii. To be honest, the only games here that felt innovative are Super Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros Wii. The others didn't really shine like they did in the Gamecube generation.

So, to wrap things up, I do have a bit of a Mario collection, excluding the NES games, since I sadly got rid of those, but I wouldn't exactly consider myself a pure Mario person. I've played some games from the NES. Sadly, I never had a SNES. But, I did play some new and interesting games on the N64. From there, I had quite a bit of fun with the Gamecube games. After that, however, I didn't have much entertainment from the GBA and Wii.

Every so often after school on a weekday afternoon, I would leave with a sense of excitement greater than what almost anything could achieve nowadays. The house of my best friend at the time was indeed nearly exotic to my seven year-old self, with its differently coloured furniture and a design so unlike that of the one I grew up in. What excited me most, however, were the games he owned that I would never have played otherwise. In particular, I would be secretly hoping that he’d take out his GameBoy and show me his new Pokemon. It didn’t matter if I just watched (though I was ecstatic every time he let me have a turn!). I was content just sitting there marvelling at the new and exciting creatures to be found, the extensive area to be explored.

Naturally, I decided that I needed a Pokemon game of my own. My need felt so great that if I had stumbled upon a genie at the time, I would have asked for one instantly. At some point my parents must have decided to give in to my newfound obsession, as on my next birthday I uncovered what was unmistakably the thing I wanted, and felt an intense happiness that is slightly embarrassing to me now. It is with fondness that I remember the days of my younger brother and I sitting side by side, hunched over the tiny screen, arguing about which Pokemon were the coolest, which move should be made in challenging battles that could have us either groaning with disappointment or whooping with delight after an especially satisfying success.
It was not only Pokemon games that my brother and I played together though. There was a Spyro game where we would take turns, each of us being able to complete certain stages that the other couldn’t. In car racing games, even though his habit of recklessly speeding, crashing into walls and other cars, contrasted greatly with my more careful braking and steering, we were quite evenly matched and would often spend lazy weekend days just racing each other. Over and over.

Unfortunately, as we grew older, our interests also grew apart. He would spend hours on first-person shooters, while I would be much more interested in role-playing or strategy games. Despite the occasional attempt at playing together, the game in question would either be too boring for one of us, or one would just dominate the other. None of these activities lasted long.
This is how things continued, except for a brief period just a couple of years before now. One of my brother’s friends happened to give him a Mario Party game during our summer break, and joined by our sister, we decided to try it out. Despite our agreement on the heavy influence of luck and the almost childish nature of the game, we enjoyed the undeniably fun mini-games, waited together in suspense for the roll of a dice that could have been the difference between winning and losing. It reminded me of times when we were younger, when it didn’t matter how ‘good’ a game was, when just any game would be exciting enough for us both to play. At summer’s end, however, we each got distracted by other things and I’m sure the game has since then lay unused in a cupboard’s corner.

Now, I will occasionally get my hands on a controller, plod over to a console to turn it on, push the buttons as I go through a game that is universally considered a standout. While doing so though, I can’t help comparing it to simpler, more enjoyable times.

So you're asking me to write some fanciful thing about my Mario game experiences eh? Well alright, then.
I think the first Mario game I ever played was Super Mario World on the SuperNES. This and Link to the Past were the first two SuperNES games we owned growing up. So they got a lot of game play. And let me tell you, while i loved SMW, nothing frustrated me more. See I have this problem in all video games, PC or not: I can't jump. I end up falling and dying 9/10 of the times I die. I don't know what the hell it is, but I fail so badly when I have to jump. And it's not even that I'll dye the same way when I jump in Mario, oh no, that would make sense. No, I can have made a jump twenty thousand times before, but somehow on that twenty thousand and first time I'll fall and die. But with my amazing skills of falling death, I learned many secrets and such and still have them memorized. And even though I've played a bunch of the other Mario's(Sorry NES and SuperNES ones are my favourites hands down) Super Mario World is by far my favourite. Lots of fun memories attached to that game. And that is my little memoir thingie you asked for. Enjoy!

The challenge won't start until 6PM CST but here's the late rules.

This challenge's rules are pretty much the same as the rules for the game cellblock on neopets. The rules really are simple. Each game starts with that table. Like tic tac toe you want your pieces in a row. Except instead of 3 it has to be 5. And pieces can be only placed adjacent (which includes diagonal) to pieces already on the board. To say where you want to place a piece just treat it like a grid (A-J + 1-10 so A1 is top right corner). Each player will play two games against the other player. One where they'll go first and one where they'll go second. Most wins gets immunity and if there's a tie the player who got those wins in the least number of pieces placed wins. And that's it for the rules.

Snakes me not hosting is independent of this. School + becoming a workaholic about essentially learning classes worth of content alone and then testing out equals tiring life that makes me not want to visit here once I'm done with one last thing.

One comment is partly helped by my lack of interaction I knew little about alliances. There was only one person (might be two if I go through my pms) that I remember giving me a long confessional so final tribal and hearing what people said was actually pretty interesting.
