Sounds good to me.
I think my character is on Leviathan right now, but I think lots of people have also claimed Gilgamesh. I'm happy to relocate when Phase 4 rolls around.

I might try a new class/starting location if I switch to Gilgamesh during Phase 3. I was Lancer around New Gridania last time. I guess you have a solid sense of all of them because you were in 1.0?

I'm still divided between playing on my fancy laptop and playing on my PS3. One cool thing is that so far I can play the beta on both versions. I wonder if the game will be free to try at launch, or if buying the game initially will also be necessary. I already have the crap on my computer and PS3....

Bummer because it means I won't be able to play with you. D:
I guess you could always just come visit me, though. :X
Do you have a better sense of how the Attribute system works, btw? It seems like it basically forces you to choose whether you want to be gimp melee or gimp magic on each character, kinda subverting the premise of the class system? Or are they redistributable by some mechanism?

The other person, I think, was someone like me who never really got into other MMOs, but really liked FFXI. Not Fenchurch, I guess. It's in the Video Game thread.

I'm happy that the game culture is already changing some. When it started it reminded me of when I made starter characters on WoW. Everyone was very stoic and kept to themselves.
In this game, after the first duty (i.e., raid/dungeon) when no one quite knew what was going on, everyone has been very group-oriented and friendly and social.

Hooray! Beta ends on Monday, unfortunately, but we can play together this weekend.
Tans should make a chart of all the character names in the OP. He can steal the formatting from the Starcraft thread. But it may make more sense to do this after the character wipe.

He told me, but for some reason you had already logged off, and I couldn't friend you. You'd think it would let you send friend requests to people who aren't currently online...
Anyway, by the time he told me, I had also already finished all the beta content, so my little brother was playing around with it mostly.

I would think that you would be able to friend people even if they were offline, but maybe they are going to fix that in the open Beta
It could be one of their anti-RMT policies (e.g., similar to AH being accessible relatively late and so forth).

In post 63, Ms Marangal wrote:I think that, when the game actually comes out we should make a guild assuming that there will be enough of us playing the game. Maybe make it all inclusive?
I think we should definitely get a linkshell, but I'm not sure we'll have enough for a Free Company, though people running around with the SCUM tag sounds cute.
I'm planning to join the gay Free Company (NOCT) absent a MS one. You can only join 1 Free Company, so....

Ha, how the other half lives.
My laptop can play it on Standard better than my PS3. I have an NVIDIA card, though, and Dan has Radeon.
Also, my little brother just traded in his 360 and a bunch of games for a PS3 so that he'll be able to play, too. He'll probably play GLA -> PLD, so we'll have a tank.

Well, it's already confirmed that the open beta would only be a week. The issue is that they also announced a time-gap between open beta and early access, which would imply that either open beta or early access will be less than a week.

OMG yay.
AngryPidgeon also preordered. I think Dramonic's special friend is also playing, unless dram is saying that he's going to play a character on his special friend's account.

I had to play on Standard on my laptop to keep framerate great and that was fine, so I wouldn't worry too much. Though that was because I insisted on fullscreen resolution.

It didn't feel like grinding up to level 32, which was as far as I got in Phase 3. Grinding's kind of in the eye of the beholder, though.
If you're curious about it, you might want to try the one-week beta and see how you like it. You can transfer your progress to release if you decide to play.

It looks like pre-order registration might happen on August 8th. If you haven't gotten a pre-order code, consider contacting your retailer if you want all the pre-order toys.
