It really depends on what you're looking for.

If you're trying to just get a lot of fast games of mafia, you might be better off with IRC channels for mafia or other sites. If you're looking for a place where people are 100% casual about their mafia playing, then a site that isn't devoted to mafia and its theory is probably not the place for you either (most of us are relaxed, but things are pretty strict here in some ways that you might not like). Etc etc.

(I've got plenty of experience with this game irl and online, never proven to be particularly good at playing, but I do enjoy hosting~)

If you have not already done so, I highly recommend signing up for the newbie queue its a great way to get your feet wet and get a handle on how we play around here... Same with the wiki though keep in mind that the info about tells is often outdated because people are aware of those tells. Still a lot of good info there to be had.

Well very few people will actually 'say' it unless you get involved in Skype Mafia, but it will help people know where/how to shorten it.

Hello, I'm Hardy, I'm new in the site. I've been playing mafia for a year (but only played around 7 games) in another site. With a friend we decided to join (we're mafia addicts D: ), he'll soon post here.

1. Get an avatar (must be no bigger than 100 pixels by 100 pixels) that will help with people getting to know and see your posts easier when playing a mafia game.

2. Only requirement for a newbie in the newbie queue is cant play in more than one newbie for your first game. After that you can play in as many games as you can handle. You can play in other queues, though depending on the setup, the mod may have special requirements like must have played in at least 2 games or some such. Most mods do not do this unless it is a tricky setup though. Once you have completed 2 games in the Newbie queue and 1 game in another queue (2 for Micro queue) you can play as a SE in Newbie games. 5 games and at least 2 outside the Newbie queue plus at least 3 months on site, you can be an IC and help teach others.

3. Lots of players here have English as a 2nd language so no worries, we have players here from all over the world.

4. Read the Wiki and the Site Rules. This helps a lot. Many of the tells in the Wiki are outdated, but a lot of good info there. The Site Rules are pretty straightforward.

5. Ask questions, get to know other players, and HAVE FUN ♥

Well, I've heard that Swedish people speak English as if it was their first language, so that's not valid

I'm a 20 something woman from California US. I really enjoy mafia. I tell my husband it's job training, working on deduction and persuasiveness in a narrow timeframe. He laughs.

Hey guys. I'm new to Mafia but I thought it sounded very interesting, so thought I'd have a go. Just waiting to join my first game now. Will probably be very confused when I start, but I'm very laid-back and casual, so hopefully I'll be able to pick it up after a couple of games.
