My parents got us a gameboy 'fridge-style' (you know, that enormous yellow thing that took gazillions of batteries) for pokemon Yellow, a gameboy colour for pokemon silver, a gameboy advance for pokemon sapphire and I believe I got myself a DS for pokemon pearl (though my parents might have paid a part of it). This sounds like I was an extremely spoiled child, and perhaps I was slightly but I shared the thing with my brother so honestly, it's nothing normal working-class parents couldn't pay once every few years. Though in hindsight I would probably not have given my children so much stuff they don't really need, not because of the money but because of the feeling you give them that they can get anything they want if they nag about it enough. I knew other kids who got much more stuff though (such as a gameboy for every child or something), so yeah...
I myself have probably only bought the DS and nothing else. I just play the games on emulators. If black/white wouldn't suck, I would buy one of them as they can run on my ds (actually I'm not completely sure about that?).- sirdanilot

Magneton (and Magnemite), Ditto, Muk (and Grimer), Dugtrio (and Diglett), I'd even say Starmie (its literally 2 Staryu thrown together and recolored). In post 731, sirdanilot wrote:But yeah Gen V sucks. Not so much the storyline (which is reasonably good) as much as the horribly designed pokemon.

PSH magneton is awesome. Magnezone on the other hand... eugh.
But you still have a valid point. Every gen has it's bland/bad designs but it's overall a personal preference.

Only staryu and starmie would fall under the definition 'horribly designed pokemon' out of that list, as you can't really relate to them due to lacking a face. The rest are very simply designed pokemon that fit their purpose; a shapeless blob that can transform into anything, and a toxic sludge pokemon. If you want to come with bad RBY pokemon, come with something like Seel or something (though even that thing has fine simplicity).
My main criticism for pokemon B/W (and to a lesser extent pokemon X/Y) is that the pokemon lack the simplicity of those in the RBY games and after that up until the D/P games really.- Brandi

The only reason RBY was so simple was due to graphical limitations on the gameboy.
Simpler doesn't always equal better imo, and I feel that X/Y does have it's fair share of "simplistic" pokemon.
Pancham is very simple, for example. (black/white color scheme white a cute simple shape)
In fact a good portion of pokemon in X/Y have 3 or less total colors.
Though overall the amount of generation 1 references in pokemon XY clearly shows a bit of pandering. (The first forest is an EXACT replica of the first forest in pokemon red/blue/yellow... there is a snorlax that you catch blocking a route and have to get a pokeflute...etc.)
Also only 70 new pokemon in X/Y, and you can catch almost every single pokemon in the game just with X/Y and there is a good spread of various pokemon from various generations all throughout the game. Some people dislike the sheer number of pokemon that you can catch but I personally enjoy it.- Psyche

Are you seriously trying to suggest that Ditto and Muk reflect the ideal pokemon design.Only staryu and starmie would fall under the definition 'horribly designed pokemon' out of that list, as you can't really relate to them due to lacking a face. Then what is wrong with them? Their shapeless blob shape serves their purpose perfectly. They do not need to be any more complicated. In post 737, Psyche wrote:

Those three are bad, but the worst design by far is Klinks evo line. Jesus.Formerly DemonHybrid. I play mafia extremely occasionally. I run the Song Contest. You can find me there.

Hahaha, those are hilarious looking. psuedo-Articuno, psuedo-Mewtwo, psuedo-Entei?In post 742, Brandi wrote:Not even close, at least it has some likable qualities (such as being kind of cute...)

Spoiler:
I actually like them a lot better than their original forms imho. I don't really like that their just basically color-shifts of each other.
I don't see how Clink evo line is much worse than the Magnemite evo line.- Klazam

However, now that I'm actually playing Gen V, I must say that while I still hate that stupid Zubat impersonator, I likemyWoobat. To be clear: quack - SleepyKrew
