GENERAL RULES

01

This is a game. The main objective is to have fun; so no excessive flaming, spamming, or submission of anything else prohibited within the MS forums.

This is a game. The secondary objective is to win.

We are not infallible, so if any of us make a mistake, please point it out to us privately so that we may make corrections as necessary.

We have worked extensively to produce a game that is enjoyed by all involved. As such, we promise to offer each player respect but expect to be shown the same in return.

Exercise common sense. If you are unsure as to whether an action conflicts with the rules, ask. Yes, this is a competition, but do not attempt to undermine challenges or game mechanics for your own gain. This violates both the spirit of the game and common respect mentioned above.

Private communication with players outside of your tribe is strictly prohibited. Also, one may not falsify things such as AIM chats, PMs, or QuickTopic chats with the use of image editing software. Any player found in violation of this rule will be penalized.

We reserve all rights to implement new rules if needed.

GAME MECHANICS

Immunity Challenges:

A Survivor game is nothing without its standard immunity challenges. All challenges are in some way an Immunity Challenge.

Winners of Immunity Challenges will be safe from elimination that round and cannot be voted out at Tribal Council.

We appreciate the fact that prospective contestants will enter this game with a range of skills. With this in mind, understand that we as mods cannot cater to all players' needs and time constraints in challenges.

The outcomes of all Immunity Challenges are final. That said, be sure to keep Rule 03 of General Rules in mind.

Tribal Council:

Tribal Councils will last twenty-four hours from the moment we notify relevant parties. If a player fails to submit a vote within the given time frame, he or she will incur a self-vote penalty. In the event that a player knows he or she will be unable to vote by deadline, that player may notify the moderators and cast a conditional vote to avoid penalization.

The results of Tribal Councils may be posted before deadline if and only if all persons involved have submitted a vote.

07

The modification of votes after they have been submitted is prohibited. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in a self-vote or nullification of one's vote. Repeated offenses will be dealt with as deemed appropriate. The only exception to this rule are conditional votes mentioned above.

The outcomes of Tribal Councils are final.

General Game Mechanics:

Twists will be implemented without warning or provocation throughout the game. The time and setting of each twist has already been determined, so as to neither give an unfair advantage or disadvantage to a player or group of players.

Hidden Immunity Idols, when played by an attendee at a Tribal Council, nullify all votes cast on them. They must be played during the voting stage (as in, if you wish to play your Hidden Immunity Idol, cast it with your vote).

This game will have sixteen players. When only two players remain, a jury of the seven most recently eliminated players will question the finalists at the Final Tribal Council and vote for the winner of Survivor: Summertime.

I can say that most challenges have a time period of 48 hours, and live challenges, if there are any, will have some sort of warning. It's hard for me to say how many times a day, but I think at least once every two days is the absolute bare minimum.

I'm making an official moderator decision right now.

THE GAME WILL NOT START UNTIL THE FIFTEENTH.

for many reasons:

1) some potential players would be less inconvenienced if such a thing happened
2) Shiidaji is literally going to the beach tomorrow and I don't know if we'll be able to convene for ~interesting casting decisions~
3) I didn't get around yet to PMing some people I wanted to, because widening the overflowing casting pool more will make y'all squirm
4) Slow and steady wins the race

Tribal Immunity – Word Search and Rescue

The sand stretches out forever.
A glaring field of infinite grains blazes under bare feet.

Before you in the sand, underneath the tarp, a word search is laid out. Hidden within this word search are the words each of you thought of when you think of summer. In

24 hours

' time I will remove the tarp and reveal it to you. Your goal is to find and mark the words (using an image editor, such as MS Paint) chosen by the members of your tribe as quickly as possible. When you think you have successfully found all of your tribe's words, post the completed word search in the thread. The first tribe to correctly do this, or the tribe which has found the most correct words within

48 hours

of the word search reveal will win Tribal Immunity. I will post a screenshot tutorial soon so that you all can figure out how to do it.

NOTE: Even though your tribes have eight members, you may have to find less than eight words. Some of you may have chosen the same word. Some of you may have chosen to be funny and picked a nonsense word! Nevertheless, you must find all the words that the members of your tribe picked. Additionally, some of you may have rationalized your choice. That doesn't matter, we're looking for the word itself. Also, some of you may have used more than one word, but means one thing (such as "hot dog"); the whole of it must be found, sans spaces. Remember that

Tribal Immunity – Shelter in the Shifting Sands

Sand is shapeless.
Driftwood is brittle.
So what's left to build one's home?

Welcome, tribes. As you can see, the sands of our beach are not glued to the ground. The gentle breeze blows them about, annoying with their grit. In today's challenge, you must deal with this nuisance and others as you build a shelter for your tribe.

Here is your blank canvas of a beach: [REDACTED]
We have implemented a 40x40 area limit. Note the borders at the coordinates of -20 and 20 on both axes. Nothing beyond those borders will be judged.

Do not tamper with these borders. It'll be pretty obvious if you do.

Somewhere along this “beach”, your tribe must create a “shelter” using ASCII-style art and explanative text if you feel it necessary. I am the sole judge, so if you think you know my interests and intrigues, you can attempt to incorporate them into your shelter, but first and foremost, remember that you are building a shelter for a summery beach.

Here is the challenging part: since both tribes are building on the same beach, members of each tribe can attempt to search out and sabotage the opposing tribe's shelter. In

48 hours

' time, I will comb the beach as thoroughly as I can for evidence of each tribe's shelter. The tribe with the best shelter will win tribal Immunity.

Sometime during the challenge, an announcement concerning the beginning of a

ceasefire

will be made. Once the ceasefire has occurred, players may not sabotage the other tribe's shelter. Tribes may use whatever time is left to build without interruption.

I cannot stress highly enough that this is a challenge of honor. We, as moderators, put our trust in you not to cheat.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: People who are neither a player nor a moderator cannot edit the worldoftext at all.

BLUE TRIBE CRITIQUE

Pros:

I like the reference to their win in the first immunity challenge. The team motto is a clever idea, and I like it! A lot of the ASCII pieces that fit are done very well, like the treasure chest, the totem pole. I like the attention to details such as a well and a treemail. The torches in particular are incredibly cute.

Cons:

If the “wordsearch” flag is wavy, then you wouldn't be able to see all the letters in word search. Should've made it just straight. Atlas Stadium is incredibly out of place, and it looks unfinished. The second team motto should've also been in a banner; it looks awkward just hanging below the first. The shelter itself is very bland and boring, and outshadowed by everything going on around it. The well...does not look like a well. The mermaid is also very strange as it is much larger than anything else going on. “Damsel” is spelled incorrectly. The envelope to the Blue Tribe below treemail is strange and out of place. If you have a bunkhouse, then what is the shelter itself for? Overall, the composition is too large to fit on one screen, which does not please me.

ORANGE TRIBE CRITIQUE

Pros:

The allusion to a sand castle is very cute. The description was nice as it explained your reasoning. Proportions and perspective, after a second glance, are lovely. There is a good grip on ASCII with this shelter.

Cons:

However, doesn't a castle seem quite ornate for a beach with few resources? You took a big risk by alluding to something from the Narnia universe, and it won't pay off because I haven't done anything with that series since I watched the first movie in theaters. The large living cloud in the northeast corner is creepy and out of place. While on a bigger screen your proportions would be correct, you also have problems with all of it fitting on one screen; in this case, because the surfers and the castle are so distant from one another, only one can be on the screen at a time, and it makes me think that the surfers are too large. The seaside village (?) looks very boring, and I don't even know what that spear-like thing is. This shelter lacks many of the details of a real Survivor camp, such as treemail and torches. “Corona” being in the sky is very strange; if it is supposed to be clouds, it doesn't look like the rest of them.

Ultimately, this is a very tough decision, as the two tribes took vastly different approaches to the building of the shelter.

Tribal Immunity – Riptide

The feared riptide.
Pulls you in, sucks you under.
One must be careful.

I have used the results of the

questionnaire

both tribes filled in a couple of days ago to create a master ranking of the remaining castaways, from most feared to least feared.

(This master list does not account for

To begin, each tribe will choose two of their tribemates.

Blue Tribe

may only select from those tribemates competing in the challenge. You must determine whether, according to the master ranking, the second tribemate is

more

or

less feared

than the first. If you are wrong, you receive one point. If you are correct, you receive no points. While this may seem backwards at first, it should make sense in the end.

Once the first round has passed, you must choose a third tribemate and discern where they fit into this growing ranking: more feared than both, less feared than both, or between the two. Points will be doled out depending on how close to the correct position you are, punishing you with more the farther off your guess is. Here's an example:

The tribe then picks to fit Randy in next. Of these three, Randy is the most feared.

Both tribes continue adding players until all six competing tribemates have been placed. In between each round, the score is tallied, and in the end, the winner will be determined much like golf: the tribe

with the least amount of points

will win Immunity.

failed to submit a questionnaire, so as punishment,

will win in the event of a tie. Additionally, note that

Does it muffle the words?

Hello castaways. Today, we have laid yet another challenge in the sand under the tarp before you. This time, a grid of a different grit: four rows, four columns, sixteen letters. Yes, this time around, you shall be playing the tricky affair of Boggle.

In

24 hours

' time, the tarp shall be removed, and you will have the opportunity to begin to find words hidden in the grid.

Rules: wrote:
- Words must be able to be formed via a linear path in the grid; consecutive letters in a word must be next to one another horizontally, vertically, or diagonally in the grid.

- Words must be at least three letters long, may be singular or plural, and must not use the same letter cube more than once per given word.

- If two players of opposing tribes claim the same word within a minute of each other, the latter claim gets refunded. Past that, it's a wasted claim.

- If two players of the same tribe claim the same word within a minute of each other, the latter claim is wasted.

- Tribe members must claim words they have found in the thread by posting
[USERNAME] claims the word [WORD]
. Each castaway may do this only once per hour. Words that have already been claimed may not be claimed again, even if a different path can create the same word.

- Points are given in the following scheme:

3-letter word: 1 point
4-letter word: 2 points
5-letter word: 4 points
6-letter word: 6 points
7-letter+ word: 10 points plus one for each letter past seven

After the grid has been revealed for exactly

Take, for example, the Scrabble Dictionary, which has a resource for making words from a select group of letters; you MAY NOT use that. That being said, the Scrabble dictionary is going to be used as the judging dictionary for this challenge. I will not tell you whether or not your entries are correct, however.

Tribal Immunity – Tasking in the Sun

A mouthful of sand is never worthwhile,
But sometimes it is the just dessert.

Welcome, castaways. I hope you have acclimated to your newly formed tribes well. Hopefully you used your time wisely, as

you may no longer communicate privately with them until the end of this challenge.

The challenge itself, while simple, may hamper your game in irreversible ways. Over time I will present you with Tasks. These Tasks, should you choose to complete them, will incur a penalty on yourself. You are free to refuse any Task and quit the challenge at any point, only retaining the effects of the Tasks you'd already accepted. You much be cautious, however, as this is integral to the scoring of the game. You see, if at any time,

more than two-thirds

of the castaways remaining in the challenge are of one tribe, that tribe will win Immunity. Should we run out of Tasks and both tribes have players remaining,

BOTH tribes will go to tribal council

If all the castaways drop out in the same round,

the tribe that had fewer castaways remaining wins immunity

OOPS. I knew I was forgetting something. It counts as a tie of 0 votes among all players, so tiebreaker rules will come into play. However, should it reach the rock drawing stage, a stage at which all tied players are usually protected, all players will draw rocks to see who goes home even if they are all tied.

- To get a ball from an opposing tribe, you may attempt to tackle someone who possesses a ball. If your attack is successful, you will get whatever color ball they possessed. However:

[USERNAME] dodges [USERNAME]'s tackle!
- If someone attempts to tackle you, and you manage to post this within 10 minutes of the attempt, you will successfully dodge the tackle and maintain possession of the ball. You may do this more than once per hour, if necessary.

To clear up some things:

by "Individual Immunity Idol" I mean like the standard Individual Immunity win, not a Hidden Immunity Idol to be played privately at a Tribal Council.

You can "instantly win" a lot by bidding the highest amount (in the first round, it'd be 100).

There can't be a tie; the first person to bid the "tie" amount wins it, unless there is a higher bid.

And of course, due to their actions in IC5, Candillan and Marquis may not compete in this challenge. However, they may still be given lots by other players.

A red mallet! If you purchase this, you must smash someone else's sand dollars, removing them from the auction. This lot may not be given away.
