A possible solution is for every player who can't make it to bet on a player who is participating, and they'll all make their picks last, but in the order the people they bet on placed.

It would be rather last notice though, so first we should probably figure out who all WILL be here. I'll move the challenge to tomorrow night or friday if need be.

Yeah, for a long time I planned to have two challenges each round, but with the Pokemon battles also needing to take place, I didn't want to bog the game down with so many events. If I run another game, I'll definitely make it much less social, and probably anonymous, so it really is more of a Pokemon-themed version of Kingdom Clash like I originally intended. But for now, this is PokeOcalypse, so rules be rules!

The problem still remains there with someone possibly being able to coast through the game after getting strong Pokemon early on, but I'm considering having somewhat of a different mechanic, where throughout the game, everyone's Pokemon remain secret (especially if it's an anonymous game) and each round, one challenge determines what Pokemon are won, and the second one decides elimination, basically a lot more similar to Kingdom Clash. Pokemon selection I'm not sure about though, some ideas I've had are the first person to pick is shown a random 3-5 of the Pokemon available, and gets to choose one, then another Pokemon is added to that group and 2nd place player chooses, and so on. That would just take a long time and require a lot of time for drafting, unless maybe I have it like it is now, but each player receives a random Pokemon of the top 3-5 Pokemon on their list remaining.

For your next challenge, to avoid falling through the ice, all players will be answering trivia questions as quickly as they can, while being able to utilize outside resources fully. For every 10 minutes starting at

9:15 EST

, a trivia question will be posted, and the last player to PM a correct answer to that question to me falls through the ice. If a player answers incorrectly, he may try again, but the time the correct answer is sent in is the one that counts. If multiple guesses are given in one PM, only the first one listed will be recognized.

If more than one player hasn't submitted a correct answer after 10 minutes, one of them will be eliminated randomly.

Pokemon distribution will occur in order of who lasted in the challenge the longest, and the

last player remaining

will be safe from elimination in Round 13. That's right, this is a

non-elimination round!

Upon reaching the end of the long, icy cavern, the trainers finally discover the headquarters of Team Mortem concealed within the edges of a cliffside. However, after an exhausting and treacherous climb up the mountain, with the assistance of their Pokemon, the party is able to reach a side entrance. The guards of the facility are immediately alerted of the trespassers, but they are no match for the now much-experienced trainers, and their Pokemon will be much happier in the hands of our comrades.

Before the players can take any of the Pokemon as their own, however, a familiar man in a dark suit and purple fedora emerges from a balcony a few stories above. "Well, well, it looks like you kids are stronger than we originally suspected," the man cackled. "No matter, for you know we already possess 3 rings of the apocalypse, and they can be easily used to swiftly put and end to your ungratefulness and pretentious ways. You Pokemon trainers think you're so special, always focused 'saving the world' and whatnot. But no more, for after we're done, there will be no world left to save."

"We recently discovered that the Ring of Death isn't just a piece of jewelry, no, death holds much more than that. Death is irritation, death is addiction, death is an endless chasm of failure with no hope. We've constructed a simulation that takes all of these qualities to their full potential, but we're testing it on you before we release it to the world." The man laughed ferociously before gates trapped the trainers inside the room with no hope for escape.

The player who gets the highest score will take full control of the Ring of Death, but alas, the ring still requires a sacrifice, so the winner of this challenge must select one player to be eliminated from the game immediately. The second and third placers in the challenge, along with the winner of Challenge 12, will have proven their strength to the Ring of Death, and cannot be selected for elimination.

Well this sure was the most intense challenge so far! People work hard when death is on the line. I must now quote myself before announcing the results.

"The second and third placers in the challenge, along with the winner of Challenge 12, will have proven their strength to the Ring of Death, and cannot be selected for elimination."

This means that one, any ties for third place will all be safe, since they are included in "second and third placers", but if there's a tie for second place, only the second placers receive immunity, since the player after them would technically be in fourth place. Also, since I said "along with the winner of Challenge 12," Shiidaji cannot also be one of the second and third placers who is safe. Both of these technicalities were originally intended to be the case, but I didn't specify since there was a rare chance of them happening. But anyways, let's get to the results!

Winding down from their endeavor with Team Mortem, the trainers decide to take a day off from the constant fighting and dying, and go for a trip down into Rinntova Valley. Rumors speak of a rare collection of fossils, and a few of the most eager members of the party can't wait to get their hands on them.

After hiking for a couple of hours, the group comes in contact with a large team of miners. The miners, likely without other human contact for weeks, approach the trainers immediately with curiosity.

"Are you bunch here to excavate fossils?" one of the men asks.

"We're just vacationing, but having fossils would be pretty cool!"

A few of the miners look at each other with excited faces. "Well we've actually got a surplus of fossils now, so if you play a game with us, we'll let each of you take one!" a miner cheers giddily.

Touche, I didn't realize at first that Orc meant using a Pokemon in one battle and using it as a prior evolution stage in a later battle. Orc is allowed to use Porygon2 now, but once he uses Porygon-Z in a battle, it's stuck as such.

"For today's challenge, you will all be using your own weaknesses to your advantage. Each player has will submit two true statements about themselves and one lie. Each round, 1 player from each team will present his statements, and the opposing team then has

to vote on which statement they believe to be a lie. If a team is correct, they receive a point. The team with the most points after 3 rounds wins the challenge, with order of Pokemon distribution determined by which players fooled the opposing team.

If there is a tie in points after 3 rounds, then the team that got their points the earliest wins.

Alright everyone, it's time for the final round! In this Final Battle between kdowns and Shiidaji, there will be 3 battles, and the first player to win 2 battles is victorious. Both players will be given

Many congratulations to Shiidaji. I had a blast designing and running this game, as I've been trying since Arkham Asylum to create a viable setup for a game using Pokemon battles as elimination rounds. It started out as a survivor with only Pokemon from Generation I, and boy has it evolved in my planning stages. It means the world to me that 20 people would even sign up for a game I designed and was running by myself 95% of the time, much less enjoy it as much as many of you did. There were many flaws, of course, and the one involving strong players being allowed to be immediately targeted every other round created a very boring mid-game after so many early powerhouses went out. However, at the final 6 or 7, the game got very intense, and while Orc was the expected winner by most spectators throughout most of the game, I anticipated every battle with excitement, and as people's Pokemon choices became more important, a lot of it came down to who wanted it more. I can't thank you all enough for all the positive feedback, and if I ever run another game like this, I'll take everyone's criticisms into account. Here's a hint though: if anyone is watching The Challenge: Free Agents, I'll be drawing on that format a whole lot if I do run a sequel to PokeOcalypse. But with two Survivors coming up that I'm playing a part in modding, that won't happen for quite some time.

I couldn't ask for a better experience in modding my first game on the site, and thank you everyone for sticking with this monster of a game, I definitely didn't intend to have this last almost 4 months! But I'm sure if I could time travel to the past (plug for Survivor: Doctor Who, anyone?) my 9-year-old self would never believe that a challenge-based game with Pokemon battles happened, and was carried out by his future self. It's been a fun ride, and if you enjoyed, make sure to stick around for Survivor: Hogwarts, which should go into signups in no less than 2 weeks. <3

You don't even know how much I regretted having that twist in the game, at the time I honestly believed you and Orc would be the final two, and your team was so amazing. Especially since this game is about battling, it just felt wrong, and that'd be the one thing I'd change if I could go back now.
