On July 29, thirteen letters were delivered to thirteen different addresses. These letters did not come through the post, but from a man in a black limousine. The letters had no return addresses, but each recipient knew who had sent the wax-sealed package. Inside the envelope was the following letter:



Also enclosed was an RSVP card, along with a single sapphire.



The recipients took their time filling out the RSVP card, as their host had not made it easy to confirm their attendance. However, each was able to figure out his puzzle.

One week later, a limousine arrived to pick each of them up and drive them to the Cerulean Villa. Over the next 12 days, one was seen departing the Villa each day, with varying looks of disappointment on their faces.

This is the story of those twelve days.

Each game day will consist of two games: a Free for All and a Death Match. There may be other activities if I issue them.

All players will compete in the Free for All game every day. The winner of each Free for All will earn Immunity for themselves and one other player of their choice. Players may also be able to earn Sapphires for their performance in the Free for All. The loser of the Free for All will be the first Death Match participant, and will choose their opponent from those who are not immune.

7)

The Death Match is a competition between at least two players. The loser of the Death Match will be eliminated and will surrender their Sapphires to the winner.

8)

Once two players are left, they will compete in a final best of three match to determine the winner.

9)

Each player will have a public bank of Sapphires. Sapphires may be earned based on performance in games, as well as through other means. Sapphires can be used to purchase various advantages in games. When eliminated in a Death Match, the loser surrenders all remaining Sapphires to the winner. Sapphires may be exchanged between players by all involved players PMing me.

10)

Should there be a tie for the winner of a Free for All, all tied players will be considered winners and will not give Immunity to anybody else. Should there be a tie for the loser of a Free for All, the winner(s) will choose the first Death Match participant. Other situations will be dealt with as the potential arises.

Aye, the appointed time is tomorrow, but while we're here, why don't we get to know each other? How did each of you come to meet the wonderful, charming and endearingly handsome in a nerdy sort of way Xalxe?

As you all should know, of course, I came into my money at a young age through completely legal means which are not being investigated at all. I took this large sum of cash and invested wisely, eventually coming to hold a controlling interest in the Mish Mash Network (Survivor: Conclave airing this fall!). In my spare time, of course, I have taken up knitting.

It is now time for our first Free for All game. Players, please prepare yourselves.

Our first game is a simple game of War. You will each be given ten playing cards: three each with values 1, 2 and 3, and one card with value 4. Using these cards, you will play rounds of War with your fellow players. Each of you will play one card face down, then reveal. Whoever has the highest number wins and scores a point, then both cards are discarded. The player with the most points at the end of the game will become the winner and earn a Sapphire, while the player with the least points will enter the Death Match.

Some other notes:
- If you have cards remaining at the end of the session, your score will be dropped to 0 points.
- You may give away cards by PMing me your intention and CCing the player you are giving them to.
- Private communication is permitted at all times during this game.
- If you missed the rules addition, Sapphires may be given to other players at any time by PMing me. The Bank in the third post will be updated after each game.

You will have 24 hours from this post to ask additional questions and form strategies. After 24 hours have passed, even if I’m not here at that time, you may begin challenging each other. You will have 72 hours from that point to complete your matches.

Our second game is called Musical Chairs. Do not worry, you will not be required to sing today (though you are, of course, welcome to should the mood take you). You have been seated at one of twelve spots on the couches. Each of you has also secretly been assigned a number from 1-11 or an X.



This game is played in rounds. At the beginning of each round, I will inform you of the longest consecutive chain of numbers in order. For example, if I were to tell you that the longest streak extends from Travis to Phyllis, you would know that Travis, Phyllis, and anybody between them are all in order, with Travis having the lowest number. Streaks may travel clockwise or counter-clockwise around the circle.

Once this information has been provided, you will have 24 hours to switch seats with one other player. You may only switch seats once per round. You switch seats by posting, in bold in the thread,

. It is assumed that the other player accepts this swap unless their next post contains a refusal. Players, it is now time for your third Free for All. Please prepare yourselves.

Today we’ll be leaving the Villa to take a few field trips. I’m joking, of course, you can’t leave the Villa, the doors are locked. We’ll just pretend.

At the Cerulean Train Station, there are two possible destinations for you to visit: the Land of Joy, and the Land of Sorrow. This game will have five rounds. Each round, you may choose to travel to exactly one of the available destinations. You may also choose not to travel at all if you wish.

Each land will have a certain amount of food available for you to take. For example, in this first round the Land of Joy has 6 bushels of wheat, while the Land of Sorrow has only 3. At the end of the round, the bushels will be divided as evenly as possible between all players who chose to travel to that particular land. Food cannot be divided into pieces, and any leftover food is discarded.

So, in this first round, if 6 people traveled to the Land of Joy, you would each recieve one bushel of wheat. If 4 traveled to Joy, then you would each get one bushel and the other two would be discarded. However, if 7 of you traveled there, nobody would get anything. At the end of each round, the number of players who traveled to each land will be revealed, but not who traveled where.

At the end of 5 rounds, the player with the most food will be the winner, and will recieve Immunity and one Sapphire. The player with the least food will be sent to the Death Match. In addition, every two pieces of food you have will be exchanged for one Sapphire.

You have 48 hours to PM me your choice for this first round, and each round thereafter will take 24 hours. If you fail to PM me, I will assume you are choosing not to travel.

Before time is up, each player must send me their choice of Rock, Paper or Scissors for their match against Kevan and Anna. The Death Match participants must send all 9 of their choices, in order.
