Arkham Horror is okay. (aka it was the first board game I bought and I don't want to admit to its terribleness)

I love Arkham Horror, but I love good flavor over good mechanics. I do think that Arkham is a bit weak mechanically, but it is just FUN to play. I haven't tried Eldritch Horror, but I hear it's similar, but a little less clunky and a little more streamlined.

Forbidden Desert for co-op.
And Pathfinder the card game, but you're pretty much playing a campaign there.

Smash Up is pretty fun. Not super duper balanced all the time, but I enjoyed the two times I've played it.

I like duck! duck! go!, but it's light. Cute, but light.

Fearsome Floors is great
except
if people have analysis paralysis it totally kills the game. It's enjoyable setting up the monster to come murder everyone, though.

I didn't care for Smash Up. Others have enjoyed it more, though.

I really like smash up. over quite a few play throughs I don't think any particular deck is overpowered, either, just certain combos are very strong. If you're wanting an expansion ever just get anything but cthulu - that one kinda sucked. (though the scooby doo deck is cute)

Coup's a good lying/bluffing game. It's super quick, too, which is a bonus.

Sherrif of notthingham is a new one that's been getting pretty good reviews, too. not sure it's widespread available tho. Definitely get coup tho - it's awesome. I think the resistance will work if they like mafia, since they're basically the same.

Want a deception game? Ghost Stories.

Just played Mansions of Madness for the first time. It's a fun game, though the rules seem a little weird. But the roleplaying aspect was nice.

Weirdest context, though- I played MoM at a wedding. Perhaps not the nerdiest possible wedding, but the reception was us eating cake, drinking beer, and playing board games.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

BB - Battlestar is awesome but it's kinda hard to wrap your head around the first game or two just because there's a lot to it. It's pretty swingy based on how the roles end up and humans can be pretty much fucked like a few turns in.

It makes for awesome scenarios though where you can really mindfuck your best buds.

Battlestar is probably my favorite traitor game, but it's one I don't play that often because it can easily be a three+ hour game.

Yeah, I LOVE long games like BSG, twilight struggle, etc. but it's a pain in the butt getting people to play.

That's why you have a games night. Once people have committed to playing games for 4 or 5 hours, you can get things like BSG to hit the table.

Otherwise they'll hang around and do jack shit for 4 or 5 hours, but they won't commit to playing a game because there's the chance they could do something else (even if they'd really enjoy the game).

Psychology sucks.

Girlfriend bought Dead of Winter on pre order ages ago.

It arrived whilst she was in hospital.

We finally got to play it (in a fashion) today. It's pretty damn fun. We only played 2 player, so it was co-op, and I was helping because I had to read all of the small text on the cards for her, but in general it was a lot of fun. Plus, zombies!

If we were to play with more, we'd have to go up to 4 - there's no way she could currently play by herself when the traitor mechanic exists, due to text needing reading. It's a lot like BSG, so I'm completely pro playing it.

Dead of Winter looks interesting but the flavor is kindof a turn-off because I'm so sick of zombies at this point.

I really want it. I don't dislike the zombies theme, it just doesn't enthuse me.

In 2 player co-op I presume it's still not full co-op due to the different individual goals, right?
