oh, the individual goals seem one of the most fun aspects, but I guess with 2 people it makes sense. Seems like it'll be a while before it's released widespread over here tho'
are you thinking of me when you're with somebody else?
A light game about racing pirate ships. The winner isn't necessarily the fastest around the island, but instead the one with the most gold.
The basic mechanic is that the "Captain" rolls two dice, and then puts one on the "Morning" spot and the other on the "Evening" spot. Each player then chooses a card from their three-card hand to play. These cards each have a Morning and Evening action which involve the number rolled on the dice (for example, "move X spaces forward", "take X number of doubloons").
I also noticed that Sushi Go! is back in stock on amazon so it's in my cart and I may choose to purchase it later this week.

? It seems like it mixes the card drafting of 7 wonders with a bit of the tile-laying that Suburbia uses.
I like Among the Stars quite a lot, and that's a pretty good description. I much prefer it to 7 Wonders thanks to greater reactions to what every other player is doing, and it's breezier than Suburbia but Suburbia fans won't find it in danger of supplanting that game in the way that it has supplanted 7 Wonders for me in terms of a card-drafting game.
Thanks CD! I have to admit that's exactly what I wanted to hear though, so maybe that jades me a little.
Also I think I have finally organized my collection in one place but that place is a dark closet (gotta preserve box quality! jk) so once I get one of those little lights for the closet I might post a picture of my meager collection.

Got Dead of Winter and Played it with my boyfriend and maaaaaaaan it's so fun! I can't wait for the real non-2-player challenge in the future!
The zombie concept didn't really feel as in your face and it was more of an afterthought. This game even seems to have some mafia elements and I can see it getting to be a very socially interactive game with more and more players.
And I'm incredibly bad at it, because there's a LOT of stuff going on, and it's all relevant, and it's all actually fairly intuitive what everything is but what you need to do isn't (In both games so far, someone has come last with basically the biggest empire, because prosperity doesn't give you any points). The factions in it are reasonably balanced - even though it's impossible to have an asymmetric game with equal chances of victory for everyone, which faction has the advantage is different each game (and choosing your faction is thus fairly important).
There's a slight paradox in that the only conflict is over available resources (including land) yet you nearly always actually want to be near to each other because there are advantages to doing so.
I've played it like twice and got like 120 the second time with like 3 cult points. The one experienced guy got like 140 and also got kindof screwed over a couple times by chaotic moves from the rest of us.
First time was like 90-100ish I think, with one guy about 110-120ish I think.
Thinking about arranging another game of Battlestar Galactica on Vassal - Saturday October 4 would be the next convenient day that I'd be free; anyone else fancy it? Relevant information on how to play on Vassal here.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

I can never get anybody local to play BSG, so it'd be a good option.
