Has anyone checked out Hex TCG? It was kickstarted last year and just entered open beta. It was designed by people who worked on WoW trading card game and some others. It's a lot closer to MTG than hearthstone with emphasis on drafting. Not much in the way of playing against AI.
so I've been playing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellavie ... no_Sekiban and it's a lot of fun because I always wished they had done more with the LttP engine, but it's kind of disappointing at the same time. hard to explain why.
I like all the FE games I've ever played, but they all kind of have their own unique flavor due to them always adding and removing mechanics and such. Awakening does some things really well, but also takes out some things that I miss (like the rock-paper-scissors magic triangle), and some people have complained about the difficulty changes (grinding is a possibility and you can have virtually unlimited reclasses, vs not in most other FE games).
So mostly I'd say that if those changes would bother you, go play FE 7 and 8. They're originally for GBA but easily emulated if you can't track down a hard copy. If they don't bother you, go play Awakening for sure.
First you get your wings back. Then you learn to fly.
I am also a huge FE fan, and have liked all of them except Shadow Dragon, which feels super clunky to me after playing the newer games.
Don't play FE8(Sacred Stones) if you dislike being able to grind. Sacred Stones had that as well with the two towers or whatever they were called.
jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont
jdodge1019: vermont is made of liberal freaks and cows
jdodge1019: he's not a liberal
jdodge1019: thus he is a cow
I bought Shadow Dragon for like $15 clearance. It was fun for the first play around but I eventually got lazy and thus it was difficult to progress. Since then I've been able to commit to actually beating it.

I didn't have much of a problem for grinding because of StreetPass. I carried my DS with me to and from the school I taught at last year in England, so I would max out my streetpass on the train. It made it really easy for me to level, though I feel like you could do the same just from overworld grinds.
I will say, I really didn't like the infinite reclassing just because it made things like my Chrom and Robin hilariously OP.
Wow. So I remember all the time I spent struggling to beat Dragon Slayer in F2P Runescape, until I finally did it for the first time like a year ago.
Now however, I started a new account on Halloween and beat it just now at level 36 combat. I've only been playing about 1-3 hours a day casually, a lot of which was thorough Dungeoneering and of course doing all the quests required to get the 33QP for Dragon Slayer.
It's just very shocking to see how the game has changed so much, how I can beat this so easily (I had about a full inventory of lobsters yet I used no more than ten of them). Or maybe I've just gotten wiser and more tactical about how the game works. Shrug. I still love it and will never ever let it go probably.

I have a DS gathering dust. I want to remedy this. I got it unexpectedly for free a long time ago, and i can't be fussed to do any research. What should i get?
As the king of all cosmos remarked "is it really fun? or that it let's you forget yourself?"
