At a start, I'd think it would be beneficial to just drop Spring's logo on the default and sepia skins. I don't imagine that would be a terrible amount of effort.

A full re-skin, though? Even if I had the phpBB knowledge, I wouldn't have any ideas on how to make a forum look less... well, forum-y.

I think something like that would be nice, though I think there's a bit of a lack of structure there. Might look better in a non-black color scheme though.

I will
definitely
say that if we're moving towards a skin redesign (or any other changes of that ilk) we need to get general concepts from the general public, then turn a small group loose on it to actually implement the specifics. If we let the whole site discuss the minutiae of a site visual update, nothing will ever get done.

I actually really like that.

EDIT - something that may not matter - is that color scheme colorblind-friendly?

Reck, do you have suggestions on what else to broadcast on the twitter account? All the skittles have access, but I tend to make most of the posts since I'm the most active twitter-person among the mod team.

White space is a really important concept in modern graphic design. It increases readability and forces designers to include content in simple, content-rich packets. (hence simple icons for social media links, etc.)

That could conceivably increase player interest in normal games, though it would open a whole other can of worms on the new mods subject.

I think that a separate tab for chatrooms would actually be really awesome, and would go as far as to say it's probably necessary if we're planning on supporting automated chat mafia. Should still be at an ms.net URL, though.

The newbie queue's guidelines should be responsive to site trends, not the other way around (hence the change a while back to two-week deadlines from three-week deadlines).

Are you referring to the fact that the large theme does signups via individual threads, but everyone else does it in one mass thread?

I trust in chamber's automated signups vision, if he's got something workable (especially if zor is a fan as well).

Ooh. That's a really good idea, actually.

I'll talk to the other listmods backstage and see how they feel about trying to do that on a semi-regular basis. I may try to just do it myself, but I can't promise I'll be up-to-date all the time.

That gap didn't happen intentionally - it grew organically within this site, whereas it did not elsewhere (for whatever reason). I am not interested in a top-down alteration of site culture of that magnitude, nor do I think it would provide a benefit to the existing users of the site, who are the first priority. And only changing newbie deadlines defeats the purpose of a newbie game.

Probably Chamber could find out - I don't know if there's an easy way to compile that information, though. (# of posters with posts in the mafia forums in the last 1-2 weeks would probably give you a decent estimate.)

Zor isn't looking for newbies to venture into other games, I don't believe. (In fact, players in their first newbie game are not allowed to play in other games.) He wants them to venture into the discussion forums.

Default skin is black.

I looked back, and there isn't a historical basis for time-of-year being an issue. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I've suspended the signups time limit for now, since games don't seem to be filling fast enough for it to serve any purpose.

fwiw, our wiki is on the first page of that search, which is how most people tend to find us anyway, iirc.

also, 'forum mafia' we're the first result. 'online mafia' we're the second result. *shrug*

Werewolf (as opposed to one-night-ultimate-werewolf) is literally the exact same game with werewolf flavor (seer instead of cop, angel instead of doc, etc)
