Was Canada or Japan the bigger shock to fail to get to Day 2? (And who's the biggest surprise if it's not one of those two?)

Wow, yeah they came in 33. Rough beats. Not sure which is a bigger surprise.

France was a pretty big surprise too.

I mean they have two pro tour winners on their team in Sean McLaren and Alexander Hayne.

They were a favorite to win it all. Seeing them not day 2 is definitely a shock.

The issue with Canadian magic isn't like top end quality. The top 3 of Jacob Wilson, McLaren and Hayne is as good as any top 3 in the world (better than most).

The issue is that outside of those three names there really aren't that many world caliber players. But in an event like this where you get to put your best 2 or 3 players, Canada is a powerhouse.

I agree on #1 and 3, but I think Pain Seer instead of Bob is probably better. This deck has a ton of 4-drops, and being able to turn off Bob triggers by not attacking seems decent.

I'd play them both and cut a couple fours for another one drop.

If I'm remembering my LSV properly, you should just play a bunch of 7 drops and win that way. More balla
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

So. Modern Masters 2015. $10 a pack. 8th Ed to New Phyrexia. Not sure if Wizards taking advantage of licence to print money, or packs with insane EV. Knowing Wizards, probably the former.

I don't see why they wouldn't have pretty decent EV in the packs - modern masters v1 wasn't bad from that standpoint. The concept as a whole makes sense as a way for wizards to tap into the secondary market for magic cards - let the high price of the singles you put into your packs subsidise the sale of those packs for draft players, allowing you to charge higher prices overall.

Alternate solution: Get a bunch of lands and just write the names of MM cards on them, then draft that.

Would there be any interest from anyone here in renting a house in vegas for the week of MM2015 GP? Looks like it would cost ~100-150 per week per person.

Would be super fun I think.
