Heh.. I guess his mafia name will have to be something like Dorji or Toghan. :)

Yeah, we agree about the whole Xmas/Bday combo thing is a pretty raw deal. My wife's Finnish grandmother said that she had a Name Day celebrated in summer. It'd supposed to celebrate the day a person is named (even when they are still in the womb). So that'll be our excuse for celebrations in August.

I'll have a couple more pictures up later-ish. Thanks again everyone. I'm totally on cloud 9 right now.

Here's a shot of Baby Khan next to my baby picture. Apparently, I've got a clone:

Update.

Wife is pregnant again. Apparently about 5 weeks along. Due date is apparently around December 2014.

Just found out tonight. Kinda giddy.

Thanks for all the kudos guys. It really means a lot to me.

I've adopted a different strategy of simply impregnating the same woman once every 5 years. In retrospect, I don't think my strategy is necessarily better than Genghis'. However it's a little more ethical and moral.

I'll either become super-crabby from lack of sleep or amazingly kind, patient, and understanding due to knowledge gained from child-rearing.

Though probably the former.

Awesome Juls! Congrats. Is everything smooth and easy the second time around?

Cool! You should be ridiculously excited. Are you reading "the books"?

Thanks for all the congrats guys. We're pretty much exhausted at this point and everyone is napping.

My wife got some horrible postpartum depression last time with Brody, mostly because of her inability to breastfeed. But out of that came a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and a prescription to lithium which has helped her tremendously. But there apparently isn't much literature regarding pregnancy and lithium and the studies that do exist point to an association with a rare cardiac disease called Ebstein's anomaly and something scary about "floppy baby syndrome". So there was stress, and a plan to give birth at a birthing center was cancelled. But ultimately everything was fine in the sonograms (although late-stage sonograms are a pain because the rib cage forms to a point where it blocks proper view of the heart). The lithium probably accounts for the bigger size of the baby, apparently.

But everything is going super well. Breastfeeding is going well, we passed all screenings (heel sticks for blood sugar checks are obnoxious) and left the hospital a little earlier than expected (we were able to opt out of the "Don't Shake Babies" class). Right now the plan is to not have a third. I'm probably going to go have a vasectomy.

And those aren't piles of poo, saul. It's a super cozy elephant blanket.

Oh yeah, I know. That's always good advice. That picture was taken after we dressed her, so it was just an on-the-bed quick shot.

Oof.. That's a tall order. Every pregnancy/birth/baby is different. The general no-nos are stuff like don't shake the baby, keep crib clear, let the baby sleep on it's back... Probably more I can't think of at the moment. The second baby is more relaxing that the first. All the little anxieties over the first one aren't present anymore.

There's been interesting new things though. There was the presence of meconium in the amniotic fluid at birth (she pooped, uh.. during birth while still "inside"), so she had to be suctioned out. But she made the cutest little "grunting" noise for the first 18 hours or so (gradually tapering off) where she worked to pass out of extra stuff. Also, she snorts when she cries. So weird.

Sorry about the miscarriage again, singer.

You get the vasectomy or is a 3rd kid on the way at this point?
Snipped. 2 kids was our agreed upon limit. Though if we had a bigger house and more land, I admit there'd be temptation to have more.
