I agree with most of what you said, but episode 4 of TWD S1 is one of my favorites. The Crawford part played out almost like a classic Resident Evil game, which was a nice change of pace. And then there was that brutal decision on the belltower that splits the community 50-50. And finally, all the survivors each decide individually whether or not to go with you, resulting in 8 possible different scenarios for the beginning of episode 5. It was very well-done.

But yeah, season 2 had a phenomenal start, then got really mediocre in episode 3, and then really bad in episode 4. The biggest problem for me was just how linear the "game" was, with no decision having a lasting effect. There were other problems too. I'm still excited for season 3, but I hope it improves in quality.

Just finished playing Wolfenstein The New Order. Its probably the best competent game I have played in a very long time, meaning that while it doesn't do anything spectacularly, it really doesn't have much of a weak point apart from things that most shooters have (few bad checkpoints, few areas that are able to be easily beaten by taking down a few enemies, grabbing ammo from the last room and then taking a few more). Also no real AI problems apart from one level where you and opponents have no guns and they just line up for throwing knife death essentially.

I would recommend it, no online play but a campaign that on the highest difficulty you could extract about 15 hours (or more depending on how close you want to 100% the game). It feels like 90s shooter for the most part with the absurdity of after a while double wielding shotguns and assault rifles with grenade launchers attached. Overall is just a solid game that actually for FPS has one of the better storylines I have seen since Spec Ops The Line (note its nowhere near SOTL for story but its still good). If you can borrow it or at this point you could probably get it for under $30, go for it if you liked the old shooters. It does what is expected, but it does it very well.

Anyone else pick up Life is Strange? It's installing on my Xbone right now since £15.99 is STUPIDLY cheap compared to what Telltale series retail at launch for on consoles, and it looks really fucking neat.

i'll get it once all the episodes are out zzz

i hate episodic game formats, it's pointless and restricting

it only works when the episodes are self-contained, imo

Yes. It's good. The time-travel mechanic is alright, but the decision-making is really good so far. There are some decisions with more than two outcomes, and I'm looking forward to episode 2. It has the potential to be as good as Telltale's stuff.

Seems to work fine for me. There are apparently a lot of things that can happen to keep it from running, here is a list of quite a few issues. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1440616

and body pillow cases for $35...

Seriously you guys, it's worth checking out. Also has some other games I've heard are okay - Oman and Gamma recommended me Long Live The Queen iirc.

So I got the star wars humble bundle the other day. Got a couple of extra games. I can gift Knights of the old republic 1 and 2 apparently, but I stupidly redeemed Force Unleashed 2 which I already had a copy of. Have a steam key for it, but not sure if it will work for anyone else. If anyone is interested in any of the games they could give that one a shot I guess.

The first game isn't that great- it's a fairly standard Bioware game with good characters, but a standard plotline and Lucas's hands all over the story. Good twist, thought.

KOTOR2 was Obsidian, and features a fantastic story and great characters and was completely screwed over because Lucasarts cut off almost a year of development without warning because they wanted a Christmas game, then they refused to allow content patches to fix the game.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

^ Interesting take. Most people loved KOTOR1.

I did like KOTOR2's characters more and I felt the gameplay was more refined. KOTOR2 does feel jarringly incomplete though.

I like KOTOR1 at the time, and I may be being too harsh in hindsight. But it does clearly suffer from Lucas's hatred of any kind of moral ambiguity, so the Jedi are all true heroes, and the Sith are all depraved baby-eaters.

KOTOR2 introduces the idea that Jedi can be sanctimonious, pompous, arrogant, and even hypocritical, while Sith can be reasonable people.

I liked KOTOR1 a lot, but KOTOR2 is so much more nuanced and so much better that I'm still angry it wasn't finished. It's so clear it wasn't finished.

KOTOR1 is a fine Star Wars game, it's exactly what you'd expect out of a Star Wars game.

KOTOR2 is a great game overall, with much more subtlety and shades of grey than anything I've seen in the series since.

In fact, a lot of SWTOR seems to be based on the lore of KOTOR2 rather than KOTOR1 (Revan is much more similar to how Kreia described him in KOTOR2 than how flashbacks showed him in KOTOR1, and the idea of light-side Sith and dark-side Jedi). So it appears that Lucasarts was fine with the direction, once they actually got it.

Also, Juhani from KOTOR1 (voiced by Jack!) was supposed to be a lesbian, but Lucas didn't want gays in their game, so now Juhani's backstory makes no sense.
