To be an SE, you need three games, one outside the Newbie queue. Unless the moderator has a restriction, there is no reason you could not sign up for a game in one of the other queues. You can try Micro, Open or one of the Mini queues. You don't have to wait for your newbie game to complete before signing up in one of the other queues.
I nearly made the same mistake, but if you check, you will see Draynth has already completed a game outside of the Newbie queue.
That means he has one Newbie game and one non-Newbie game finished... which means he's neither eligible for a Newbie /in (third game), nor an SE /in (second game not finished), so therefore, his only option is to replace into a Newbie game until he finishes his current game.
(As a side note, he's not asking about other queues - he's already been in one and likely knows he can do so again.)

On the same line, I've completed one newb from scratch, and finished another that I replaced into on D2, and am in a third outside of the newb queue (I have another newb that I started from scratch but had to replace out of D1). I know I can /in as SE once I'm finished with the third, but can I /in to another newb from scratch before then (I prefer to not replace in)?

Amid the pressure of great events, a general principle gives no help.
Taking Tatsuya Kaname and EdwardShaw from the queue as replacement for murder and captcha who did not pickup their Role PM, or did not post to the thread.
It's my fault for not noticing immediately, but for future reference, players with stars beside their names in the player list are NOT supposed to be stolen. It means I didn't add them to the queue for a specific reason such as an IP conflict but am waiting to follow-up.
to let me know if I missed you or made a mistake in the current update. The number of newbies appears to be unusually low given it's been awhile since the last game, and it's possible I was confused by all the replacements and stealing.
