I enjoyed ftl as a train game. Izzy recommended sunless sea, and that was a brilliant game. Ticked pretty much all the boxes for what I look for in such a game.

Otherwise, not the biggest fan of this genre.

I was thinking about getting sunless sea, but I've heard mixed things. Beyond the storytelling element, it sounds tedious.

Tedious is one word for it. It's a slow paced game, but you meet plenty along the way, it's not boring in that sense. Just quite laid-back. And sometimes that's nice in a game. It may not be your thing, but that's for you to judge
