I think you've done a great job Ceph <3
(I also think the position is unnecessary but that's a mutiny for a different thread)
I don't think it should be the curator or whatever's job to check with game mods. Just contact the person in charge when your game is ready or if you feel like you should.

If we're creating this position at all, it might as well be a responsibility for the curator to actually be responsible for keeping information up-to-date. If it's really too much work to ask a mod how their game is going, then we might as well go back to having everyone randomly give updates on their games, forcing everyone to dig through a huge thread for information any time they want to know something. There's a reason newbies like Radja are asking in-thread when the next game will be, so even if you personally don't need an organized OP for all of that, new people certainly do.

While we wait for a new person in charge, I think Reality Show X should still go in signups.
Pre-ins have started about a week ago, and I personally dont see any reasons why it shouldn't happen.

I was really looking forward to it.

I think Flameaxe ran away for some reason as I don't understand the drama either.

Here's an idea. Instead of assuming a game's status, what if we *gasp* asked the mods in question themselves. I hear direct communication is this newfangled contraption that solves all sorts of problems. It's crazy, but just might work!

I respect you a great deal, and I know that Cephrir may not have been the best especially with regards to RSX since I really can only speculate what has happened, AND I know that I'm not exactly the pillar of objectivity, AND I'm not certain you're intentionally trying to judge Cephrir's reign with this post, so take this with as much grain of salt as you like, but I feel this post attempts to hold Ceph up to an impossible standard, considering he was the first one to do this, and (for example) even the 100th curator is going to have newbies inquiring in this thread about upcoming games.

If you want to discuss what this position should be, then fine, but I just ask that it be done with more forward thinking about how to improve it rather than backwards thinking about how Cephrir was apparently bad, when honestly I don't think he did a bad job other than maybe the one recent thing.

I think it is good that we can air our discussion out in the open, and I strongly believe that a lot of problems that have been perceived and that have existed here, is simply due to a lack of communication. I hope we as a community will remember to communicate rather than assume and be willing to talk to people we don't like if we need to.

I'm sorry if I'm just being an inciter of loldrama, or if I'm offending you, CC. I'm not trying to. Cephrir is someone I care about greatly, he feels pretty shitty about all that has happened. I'm going to feel bad either way, if I speak out or keep my mouth shut, so I might as well communicate.

Without an argument about players in particular, I personally agree that the queue moderator should hold more responsibility for reaching out to game mods for info.

I would also be interested in running this!

There was no job description for this position, and I had to find out what people wanted or were unhappy about through them bitching to xof about it. This also included people giving her updates on their games, which I can thus infer it would not have been hard to give to me (and frankly, I think that in many cases this was a deliberate attempt to make my job harder, but that is neither here nor there). I did go and get a status update from everyone when I learned that this was something people felt was necessary.

It's all a hobby not a profession, so let's not give anybody early onset heart disease here. Thank you for your volunteer service, Cephrir and all site volunteers. Seems like a tough job even at the lowest levels. IDK about y'all but I log on because my real life is often stressful and jam packed with bullshit, so I'm trying to have a good time, unwind and give my brain a little more of a workout than my day to day life usually provides, not get more wound up.

Anyway to utilize this thread for the queue type purposes it once had again, could my future game be specified as "Survivor: Something Super Vanilla" for now to differentiate it from Big Brother? 16-18 players and mostly I will need a comod who is familiar with yon offsite boards because mafiascum is the only forum I frequent and that shit was confusing me. It is a good idea though y'all have really moved on from the old quicktopic days.

i feel like the us vs them mentality of the drama that's been practically outlined in big, bold print by a lot of the parties involved is indicative of a bigger problem of a community that's generally split into factions than it is welcoming and hospitable

i'd throw my hat into the ring so to speak on any large game queue dealio guy as a neutral, detached party, but no one would ever believe that i'm a neutral, detached party regardless on if i am or not

I will say, since people tend to already tell me most of stuff anyways and I really want to make sure as many people are as happy and welcome as possible, I WOULD be more than willing to replace Ceph if that's what the powers that be decide.
