I wasn't expecting the game to crash itself. Similarly, when I first reloaded it I didn't expect it to hang, so I shut the game off and tried again

What followed? Honestly, I've been thinking pretty hard recently about game design and

how best to "impact" the player

so

it didn't *bother* me at all. It's actually pretty well-done, minus the cop-out denouement. The real tragedy is that the only way to play it again is to True Reset, and even then, to do a real showcase run you have to do it all the first time since it autosaves your progress. Well, this isn't a game where you can just play around with peoples' lives and dreams, after all.

Your Best Nightmare is one of the catchiest songs on the OST IMO.

Spoiler: Finished playthrough 2

So after I got incredibly upset about the end of playthrough 1, I talked with a friend about it and decided to play through the game again. I got the Pacifist Ending, and was very satisfied. I still believe that the "transition" between playthrough 1 and 2 is really badly designed, but I sort of understand what he was going for. It was just very clunky after the first game crash up until the second playthrough started.

well here's what happened:

pacifist run, beat asgore, then mercy him
flowey shows up w/ the souls, game crashes
reload, go through the crash/reload/save/reload bullshit with omega flowey, finally beat omega flowey, cut to black or something?
i load back in and im right outside the door again, went to deliver Undyne's letter to Alphys, then went thru the whole thing again and got the right ending

so i guess i just have genocide left?

Undyne's dialogue made it sound like I was Genocidal but I had been sparing some enemies so IDK? This is still my first playthrough.

Either way, that was a fun boss battle!

Don't worry Chevre, it's insanely difficult to get Genocide on your first try. You'll know if you're on that path.
