Spoiler:

Genocide spoilers in song cover/parody form
Really love this, probably would love it if even if I wasn't a Steven Universe fan. Too bad his singing isn't ... great? But good enough.

Also female vocal version which is worse and better in some ways

It's a pretty good show. Not AMAZING
but good
and
it has pretty nice music, many anime references, and cute characters

The fanbase though... can get a little controlling, abusive and just plain awful sometimes.

Well does seem like tumblr bait.

Yeah it is a little, but I don't think it's done so in a forceful way

I try not to base my liking of something on who it's supposed to be geared towards but I did pretty much avoided SU for a year because the types of people that were praising it seemed really awful. But then someone I really liked made fanart for it so I ~finally~ started watching it and just ended up binging 50 episodes in 2-3 days (The episodes are only 15 mins long)

Anyone who completely hates Adventure Time and/or shoujo/shounen anime would not like it at all though.

I'd love a cover of
Do It For Her
, with
Undyne training Papyrus for the Royal Guard
.

Also, fun fact, that link is what got me watching Steven Universe like two weeks ago. Just caught up the other night. I like it, it's a pretty good show. Surprising amount of crossover fanart out there.

I take it all back. I just spent almost my entire shift on fan comics and I think they've turned sans into my favorite character.

Tumblrs are a pain to link and navigate on mobile but do yourselves a favor and look up Aftertale and Swaptale.

Doing this right now.

Sans has remained my fav character from the beginning. But I really love every character.
Well, except Jerry. FUCK that guy.

Watching Genocide being played through (My boyfriend did it. I'm just not good enough to beat it.) was more awful than watching a playthrough of Hatred. My heart will never be the same even if I do a million pacifist runs now. ;-;

Also I am likely going to be spending more time on the TVTropes page than the time it took me to beat the game.

I imagine most of these have been posted or listened to already but:

I need more of these (there's hundreds on soundcloud but most are meh).

Also, Another Medium (Hotland theme) + Space Jam. It fits so well. I'm tempted to put in the effort to mash them myself but I'm lazy so

Really long dissection of the game and particularly Sans as a character. Spoilers for all endings within, some of my thoughts on the post spoilered below.

Many of the comics I've looked at have portrayed sans as this character with symptoms of depression and PTSD or at least struggling through an existential crisis and I love that take on him after having seen all the endings but I hadn't realized quite where it was coming from and hadn't really thought through that there's actually quite a lot of bits and pieces in there that support that idea. And just like with real depression it's usually kind of hidden behind a smile, not stated directly but you catch on if you're really listening. I read all this and drew a parallel between sans and, say, Robin Williams, or anyone who is the type to be always cracking jokes despite everything. I wonder if Toby Fox has had depression or is close to someone who has, because now that I look at all the hints compiled in one post the portrayal is really good.

Supplemental: dialogue changes when you only kill papyrus

In case it isn't obvious I'm really, really enjoying digging deep into everything this game and the fanbase has to offer, all the fan theories and comics and repercussions of doing things just slightly different and Easter eggs found from data mining. I got like this with the Mass Effect series for a long while, too -- I just enjoy any game with decision trees that cause ripples down the line.
And if you shit on the ME3 ending for not doing enough with those decision trees I'll fight you IRL

So I played through this game after seeing this thread grow and grow. Thanks Ythan for bringing attention to this game, it totally deserves it. The humor is great, and the meta super interesting. The game really grew on me. The spider fight and the dates were awesome.

My only big complaint is that the game forcing you to win a fight when you suck :-P

Flowie owned me COMPLETELY the first two times I fought it -- I didn't last 3 seconds. But the third time suddenly the hit boxes were suspiciously lenient, and the attacks seemed to do much less damage. Blah, don't hold my hand, unless I ask you to! The victory felt really undeserved. I have spoiled myself enough to know that the genocide route boss fights are brutal, but to be honest I still expected a bit more from the ending of the neutral route.

I agree, there's a point where you realize that most of the boss fights are more or less scripted and it takes a bit out of the experience. More than anything I think it's that the illusion of player agency gets broken.

Although in that one case it's because if you can't win you're kind of stuck.
also the Flowey fight will do that even during your first play - you lose health more slowly when it's already low, and I think during the finale you are basically indestructible.
Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.

That is a good point. But I still feel a bit robbed by that ending end.

Changing the subject... All that Undertale fan art ... it feels me with Procastination!
