So I played through this game after seeing this thread grow and grow. Thanks Ythan for bringing attention to this game, it totally deserves it. The humor is great, and the meta super interesting. The game really grew on me. The spider fight and the dates were awesome.

Flowie owned me COMPLETELY the first two times I fought it -- I didn't last 3 seconds. But the third time suddenly the hit boxes were suspiciously lenient, and the attacks seemed to do much less damage. Blah, don't hold my hand, unless I ask you to! The victory felt really undeserved. I have spoiled myself enough to know that the genocide route boss fights are brutal, but to be honest I still expected a bit more from the ending of the neutral route.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

That is a good point. But I still feel a bit robbed by that ending end.
Changing the subject... All that Undertale fan art ... it feels me with Procastination!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

Oh, just to be clear. I am not irritated at the fact that the boss gets easier. I was irritated that it got easier TOO fast.
I totally see the narrative reasoning, I just thought it could be done in a more mechanically satisfying fashion.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

Eh, I can understand Brandi not getting Jazz, because I really can't see the funny in (american?) stand-up comedy :-/
The wanpanman crossover and the "papyrus get the soul" movies were awesome, though.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

It stands out on the snes before many games that we consider to have pushed the boundaries of the snes came.
It was a really beautiful game.
A friend of mine who shares this opinion urged me to buy A Link Between Worlds, but that would also require me to buy a new DS, since mine has its shoulder buttons busted... so I'm procastinating it for now.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

Some undertale-related idle musings:
So I was playing Pillars of Eternity (a baldur's gate-like RPG released last year by obsidian), and it got me thinking about undertale.
The game is chock-full with subquests, and in one of them, a barbarian asks you to sacrifice a baby. There are three ways to complete the quest: 1- you sacrifice the baby, get your reward. Easy-peasy. 2- You say NO, and kill the barbarian - however, he is in a room full of enemies, so it is a very hard battle, and you get a heavy reputation penalty in the village for killing everyone. 3- you poison the barbarian. If you do that, you have to pass an EXTREMELY hard attribute test (as in, you basically have to metagame to pass it), or you are caught and it reverts back to scenario 2.
There are a lot of people on the internet complaining about that side quest, arguing that the game forces people to be baby murderers.
But, after playing Undertale, my mind goes to option 4. You just don't complete the quest, and forgo the little extra XP. In fact, Poe is full of self-contradicting side quests: if you complete every single side quest that is put in front of you, you will end up as a very unpredictable person. There is more than enough XP and items to go around, so it is perfectly valid to mold your character by only taking the side quests that you agree with. I find that cool.
(In fact, I found out that there IS a fourth option: you can take the baby, but not sacrifice it, leaving the quest uncompleted - the game will mention that choice in the end-game, when it describes what happened with your character after the adventure is done. This is never acknowledged before the end-game, though, and the "quest" marker sits there, blinking, taunting the Flowey within us)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

Sure, but it sure puts the "I must complete every sidequest" mentality in check.
On the other hand, I kinda remember that BG I/II did not have purely evil sidequests. They had "evillish" ways of completing some sidequests, but I don't think there was any quest where the only option was either commit an evil act, or skip the quest altogether.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo- Claus

I did not play IwD or Planescape. I used to play the old golden box games before BG.
I would definitely recommend PoD. It is not perfect, but verygood, specially the companion NPC stories.
Also, Paradox is a great publisher and deserves all the support it can get.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVVmAG0RXmo - Claus
