I loved eggs.
That deck was awesome.
There is a vocal group of people that freaks out anytime magic is more interesting than HERP DERP I PLAY MY 4 DROP CREATURE AND YOU PLAY YOUR REMOVAL SPELL THEN YOU PLAY YOUR 4 DROP CREATURE WHICH IS THE SAME THING BUT IN DIFFERENT COLORS. HERP DERP.
Eggs was a victim of that vocal group. Fuck those guys, they're the reason magic is now terrible and there is literally only one deck legal in standard, just 10 different versions playing different colors trying to execute the same boring creature midrange strategy.tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner- Shanba

Which is why legacy is a wildly better format imo.
I loved eggs too. What a cool deck - it just sort of grew and grew and grew and then everything exploded. I've even messed around with the version that Conley Woods was developing with KCI post the second sunrise ban, but it's just not very good, I think.(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN

The only good thing about the Splinter Twin ban is that I don't have to spend money/time building it only to have it banned when I actually had it.
Is UR still viable in modern outside of twin?Retired.

Yep. Delver gained a new 2-drop beater in Stormchaser Mage, and a Kiki-Jiki deck is likely still strong.- chamber

I completely disagree with this btw. It took too long to actually resolve the combo.Taking a break from the site.- beeboy

I legit have never seen this.
The vocal minority is people who want to go back to spells and combo being king..? What are you smoking?Current Avatar: Dr. Contessa(OC, art by @pastelpuffin)- Thestatusquo

I deliberately worded my statement in such a way as to not imply you are part of that group. Believe or not, we've discussed high concepts in Magic enough that I have a good understanding of the type of Magic you like(and I agree that standard has been sufficiently dumbed down in recent years).
The voices I always see are people who seem to think Force of Will vs Storm matches are the epitomy of Magic, I've never seen someone ever say 'damn, I really wish Wizards printed more midrange beaters'Current Avatar: Dr. Contessa(OC, art by @pastelpuffin)- Natirasha

caved and got Probes on MTGO, they help the Fiend deck immensely (although I'm keeping one Growth in). also picked up Burn, and a few other cards for UR Fiend to mess around with.
pauper is a pretty fun format.
Spoiler: Fiend list
Spoiler: Burn listIf you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

My favorite deck is the Kuldotha deck. Back in 2012, I actually had a hand in the continued evolution of the deck- was the first person to add Guardian of the Guildpact to the deck(and win dailies). I feel like it's my little baby ever since.
If I didn't have a strict no- MTGO clause now, I'd probably start playing pauper again, especially since they banned the card they should have banned over Temporal Fissure. Seriously, I have the posts from 2012 on mtgs begging for WotC to ban Cloud of Faeries because it's 60% of the reason the top 2 decks were FissurePost and Mono U Delver.Current Avatar: Dr. Contessa(OC, art by @pastelpuffin)- Shinobi

Is there a decklist for UR Delver floating around? It sounds interesting but idk if it'd be solid enough to play against top tier stuff - I already run G/R ramp in standard so Tron is/was my other modern option outside of Twin.Retired.

I feel like they were both pretty pricey for pauper standards though (~100 tix)
Mono B Control looks really fun.
Tempted to brew a Ninja Bear Delver shell. Something off the top of my head:
4x Delver
4x Phantasmal Bear
4x Ninja of the Deep Hours
4x Jeskai Sage
4x Ponder
4x Preordain
4x Brainstorm
4x Counterspell
2x Deprive
3x Snap
1x Bonesplitter
2x Gitaxian Probe
2x Gush
1x Piracy Charm
17x Island

Kuldotha looks real fun to play. And yeah, even having only been playing Pauper for a few days, I can say Cloud of Faeries + Spellstutter is so damn annoying.
Faced against some 4-color deck with all Snow lands, 4x Skred, and a ton of counters - Arcane Denial, Counterspell, Memory Lapse, Rewind... think the wincon was Sprout Swarm? Looked fun, despite the fact that I was playing Kiln Fiend and got pooped on.If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?

Something along the lines of:
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Snapcaster Mage
3 Stormchaser Mage
1 Grim Lavamancer
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Serum Visions
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Remand
2 Spell Snare
2 Izzet Charm
2 Electrolyze
1 Cryptic Command
1 Mutagenic Growth
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Flooded Strand
2 Polluted Delta
3 Steam Vents
2 Sulfur Falls
4 Island
1 Mountain
with a Sideboard that includes at least 2-3 Blood Moons
Grixis could be spicy too, with Gurmag Angler, Kolaghan's Command, Thoughtseize, Terminate, and Tasigur.- Thestatusquo

yeah, was just rattling off a bunch of cheap spells. run some terramorphic expanse/evolving wilds, it'll be fine >_>
-4 Brainstorm / +1 Snap +3 Memory Lapse?
could maybe even switch Probes for Vapor Snag or something, or run 1-2 Exclude.
also 2 (maybe 3?) Islands should be the blue cycling land.If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?
