Regarding yakko: I personally always agree to have a scum thread opened, but I think the scum should get to make that choice. If one or more of them want to limit knowledge of their scum strategy to as few people as possible, that's their right and IMO it should be respected.

I would announce it before the game that the thread will be made public. People can learn from it. It is also a lot of fun to see scum talk about killing you. On my own site (when it was still live), private threads were always made public without exception. I'm a fan of transparency.

Just find a new strategy for your next scum-game. Be creative. Although it will probably not even be necessary because people care less than you think. I have read a few pages and that was enough for me. Still fun though.

Yea I spent so much time trying to establish the rules for scum on scum Fun I forgot my usual announcement in the OP of the scum threads. I talked with Yakko and I hope we reached a fair compromise

People have always been able to read my scum strategies. It never seemed to help them much, though. Probably because every game is different. I can't think of any time my posts in old private threads were used against me. When people are meta-reading you, they usually rely on your public posts rather than your private posts as scum.

well that was fun. As your mod, Id like to talk to you about 4x games.

4x games (Xplore, Xpand, Xploit, Xterminate) are games where you are the leader of a faction in a turn based game, be it a boardgame or video game. You face a set number of opponents who are all playing to beat you. But you cant beat them all at once, because they have similar abilities as you. So you form alliances of convience with some of them. Or you crush the when they are small and focused on infrastructure instead of soldiers. oc, to crush them you have to focus on soldiers instead of infrastructure.

those who focus on infrastructure are gambling that they can be safe long enough to reap the rewards of their peacetime activities later. Be it happy citizens, more production and industry, i fluence over the actions of others, or getting better soldiers later, investing time and resources into your land nets you long term reward for short term loss.

Similarly, forming an alliance is like planning infrastructure. Both parties know they cant win together, but ubderstand it isnt just the two of them. Theres warmongers like ghengis khan who will take the wincon by force or peacemongers who will outreach you and win before they ever field an army; which will be superior to yours by that time. Theres tricky Catherines, who use charisma to save their own resources and make you use yours, and pragmatoc Stalin's, who respect results and are self sufficient.

There is no 1 way to play 4x games, and 1v1 is never 1v1 unless everyone else is dead. Of course this means there is no wrong way to play either . . .Edited 12-12-2015 11:23 PM

You vote in this thread by bold-typing the alias of the kill performer, followed by a verb that implies killing, followed by a Mafia-Scum account name.

An example is:

pisskop Murderizes Senator


The code for bolding type in this thread is:

open bracket followed by a 'b' followed by a close bracket. Then insert the text to be bolded. The you open bracket, foreward slash, type 'b' again, and close bracket.

Some Rules: Some of which you may have in your respective chats.

1) You, the Werewolves and the Vampires, share this thread.
2) You have no factional kills. You share a kill together.
3) You Vote in this thread, and only this thread, for a night kill.
4) Night kill votes must include a performer of the night kill, who does not have to be from your team but does have to be from a scumteam present in this thread.
5) You must use the alias presented here when voting for performers. You may not use MS account names when voting for players to perform the kill.
