I guess in this hypothetical game I'm villain, but the bumbling oaf kind instead of the shadowy puppetmaster kind.

Okay, what even is Blood vs. Water?

And the problem with Heroes vs. Villains is that it would be kind of hard to determine who would be what, and that could cause the drama to start before anyone even sends a PM. That is, unless the applicants are the ones who decide which one they are, which would kind of be defeating the point?

You guys should invent a survivor game that is still survivor but less of a time commitment. I'm itching to play one again, but haven't had time lately.
Make it so you can only play for half an hour a day or something.

Or maybe do a reverse survivor where you want to get voted out as fast as possible, and it ends with two losers. That could be less time consuming.

well on top of that, HvV is an all-star format, so you're looking at a game not open to public consumption, but rather open on an invite basis, based on performance.

And your invite designates what tribe you are, and at that point having any kind of anonymous game is just defeating the purpose.

So HvV would need to either strip away from the way Survivor games are done here (go non-anonymous, make it invite only, have players vote on who is a hero who is a villain, and have the mods make a final say of 20 people, 10 H 10 V) OR it would need to defeat the purpose of HvV from the outset, just arbitrarily naming anonymous players to 2 different tribes, at which point you just basically have a vanilla survivor.

I feel like HvV was a setup for the viewers, and not for the game itself. It might be fun, to see the initial reactions of "Oh, I'm a hero?" or "Woah, I'm a villain?" but beyond that I doubt the division would affect gameplay at all. Besides that, dividing the game into two large initial tribes seems like a risky design choice, for purposes of preventing Pagongings. For an MS game, I'd rather see a tribe division that was actually meaningful, like "Winners vs. Underdogs vs. Newbies" or something equally ridiculous.

I kinda feel like we're heading towards an EDGIC survivor or a Myers-Briggs survivor or something where people are classified as players on some sort of personality system that is more interesting and varied than HvV.

Which is kind of interesting, honestly.

I like Fans vs. Favorites; it's a division that would actually affect gameplay, because different tribes come with different threat levels attached. People may argue it's unfair, but I feel it's more balanced than a typical Survivor game; newbies have a higher chance of surviving past the early-game, and strong players have a higher chance of getting voted off early. I think stretching out a FvF game to 3 tribes would be really interesting. The only thing I'd prefer is an all-newbie game, but I sadly don't think there's enough newbie interest to make that feasible.

Granted, I'd still love to play a Heroes vs. Villains game, but I'm not sure there's enough difference between playstyles to make it fit. The main differences seem to be in skill and experience, not in style.

PSV was about as close to an "all newbie game" as we got, because we took every newbie applicant who applied.

FvF just falls into the same issue of anonymity as HvV (implying anonymity truly exists at this point DIFFERENT DISCUSSION)

I would totally be up to mod a non-anon game! I'll go make me own poll and post it here in a second.

There are reasons why those are less fun, though. If, for instance, your name is Snakes, you may be tempted to just not bother with that sort of thing.

In all honesty, most games are non-anom for players that are experienced enough. There is just no avoiding knowing who some people are and while players may "try" to not let that influence their decisions, we all know that it partially does.

I would rather just do a straight up non-anom once in a while instead of pretending we don't know who the other players are.
Looking for love in Alderaan places.

I would disagree that most people can anon everyone, really only a few people can tell who a few people are (mainly because xof is obvious)

As someone whose first game was fans vs favorites, I definitely disagree that it's a bad format, I think it actually works better on MS than on the real show. That was Ceph's first game too and he did win :P
