Persivul I think you should answer. Pros point was that people often 'feel' Fire is town, and that doesn't seem to have a lot to do with his alignment. So, in those games where you read him right, was he scum of town? It's an important distinction.

What did the claim tell you?

there's a few contexts where miller claims makes sense:

1) as kind of a named townie. you usually see this in theme games and when the flavor matches up just right w/ the role. see: ozy and millie mafia. there was no investigative roles in the game but principal bovine was a miller b/c he was an asshole in the comic. millers are usually flavored as fundamentally town, but they're misunderstood or something makes the LOOK bad.

2) to take someone out of the "can be confirmed by cop" pool. for this you either need a full blown cop or a very lightly gated cop

3) interaction w/ rolecops. it lets rolecops get a definitive inno.

i went ahead and asked for the flavor was b/c of #1 (which i personally think is the most likely). once there's a scum flip or two, the claim can better be evaluated and it's better to have iec go ahead and give it now before we have ANY flips so that if he's scum and making it up he has nothing to look at to fabricate flavor.

these are all out of context b/c i just went to our iso and hit the "q+" button for posts that DIRECTLY speak to my opinion on the gamestate but you can click on the links to any of those, read the full conversation and pretty easily follow what happened and figure out 1) what my thought processes reads-wise were and 2) why i was getting frustrated (by the way max, i got frustrated with you mostly b/c it felt like you were nitpicking. probably wasn't all rational but meh, it was a pretty rough week for me.)

I think they are most likely to flip scum. I think their posts suggest broad attention to the game that is designed to offend no one. The reasoning for scumplayers that they're pushing with relative conviction is disproportionate to evident depth of thought about those players (e.g., the case on hiplop is that they have a good, unrealistic idea but may be scum; other players are kinda scummy but may be town, etc).

On the real, I think you actually figured that you'd stall out and there'd be no lynch. There's not a plurality lynch in this game, just a majority vote lynch. Even if the entire scumteam was on the lynch wagon, the town power gained would out-pace how much scum could control the game. In this game, No Lynches aid scum the most because scum continue to get kills, but town don't get abilities such as protectives, investigates, etc.

varsoon COMPLETELY failed to do any of that though and opted to jump in on the tail-end of the conversation when he thought he could make me look bad. so far, he's given no sign of wanting to develop genuine reads but he has been working pretty hard to spin a coherent narrative and sell the shit out of it.

@SpecterDeflectors: I don't think effort is indicative of alignment, but I generally do find it easier to get better reads on people who have posted content and engaged with other players/had to deal with some pressure on their slot.

asking for reasons on an early wagon is already sending up red flags for me, mostly b/c i think in the early game, scum are a lot more likely to feel around and ask for town positions and opinions to be fed to them (as opposed to letting them naturally form on their own)
