1-4(Seriously intense and brooding, by far the most interesting trial 'realistically')

2-2(The :drama:, Fuyuhiko+Peko's arcs are good)
2-4(The scenery sucks, but everything involving Gundam+Nagito is great, Kazuichi is also at his best here)

1-3(Stupid plot, but Celes steals the show)
1-6(Junko's reveal is pretty well done, good penultimate trial)
1-2(Good fun, just stupid solution and I wish they didn't kill Chihiro off)

does anyone know what exactly is going on with Nagito Komaeda? he has the same talent, the same voice, very similar clothing, looks pretty much the same, and when you rearrange his name it literally means "it's Naegi Makoto". this had me convinced until the start of chapter 6 they were the same person, yet apparently they're not and I was just being a huge idiot the whole game. what am I missing?

TL note: Naegi Makoto da -> it's Naegi Makoto.

Spoiler: Nagito

There's a lot to his character. The basic conceit to his character is that having your whole life revolve around drastic turns of fortune really fucks you up. It's implied multiple times in the first game that Naegi is actually the Ultimate Bad Luck, but persevered through all of it. Nagito figuratively(as in his mental state) and literally(As in his brain tumor) broke from his constant fortune. He's intended to be a deliberate parallel to Naegi in that aspect, and it also sets up a lot of the thematic battle in SDR2--the Hopeless Hope is more or less your biggest adversary during the game, and is intended to lead into the final act's conclusion: that only through rejecting hope and despair can one become truly genuine to oneself.

I saw a fairly decent theory that Kirigiri ain't dead, she had a bottle of Seiko's cure next to her when they woke up. Also, I'm in the camp that Asahina is dead and it's Chisa impersonating her.

I wouldn't be surprised. I think at this point it's eother Asahina!Chisa or Mitarai as the only really viable traitors. Mitarai has been kinda sketch from the beginning, but I feel there's too much red herringness with him in zersubou-hen for it to be true

I'm baffled that they actually are going in this direction. Not that I don't like, because it's fucking amazing, but oh my god the metaaaaa.

Also, Local Man #2 was p cool. Him and Seiko are honestly the only two new cast members I really appreciated.

Thank god because this who series went up in flames lol. Zetsubou-hen was offensively bad, Mirai-hen failed to have a compelling though, and Kibou-hen was just fanservice. I had such hope for this series too.

I have faith in Kodaka. I think part of DR3's problem was that he was only a writer on Mirai-hen(the better half), and even then he was sharing the position with some other dude. I can't imagine Kodaka would have doubled down on

brainwashing

so much on his own, he has a really good sense of how to create good moral dilemmas.

By far my least favorite aspect of this series is how much it removed all the agency from SDR2's cast and also how it made SDR2's plot worthless and also how it generally had OC Donut Steels do nothing but shit up the place. Juza and Munakata were good, but everyone else--especially if they're named Mitarai or Ruruka--can go burn in the hell of non-canon.

I'm not particularly bothered Kirigiri survived because it was kinda obvious. I'm more bothered by the entire ultimate despairs surviving tbh. Nagito is fine because he's a fan favorite and the memes but everyone else...eeeh..
