No. Sting is an awful vocalist and a really boring songwriter.

Lots of people are. They're generally considered as a pretty good band, and it's easy to see why.

A lot of people think U2 is a good band, too, but that doesn't make it the case.

Sometimes it irritates me when people act like their opinion is absolute fact, but hey, that's life.

I mean I have degrees on the matter so.

But what really gets on my nerves is when they put other people down for disagreeing with their "correct" opinion.

Post-Black album stuff is horrible, unlistenable stuff.

Load is a monumental piece of shit, yes.
Reload was decent if you look at it through the scope of a 90s hard rock album, and not a thrash album.
St. Anger, Lars' trash can drums aside, was a great attempt at making an album that flexed their punk and garage roots. Dirty Window and S.K.O.M. are standout tracks that will hold up over time.
I couldn't really give a fuck about Death Magnetic. It

"sounded"

like a Metallica album but there was just nothing there. It was going through the motions.


And S&M is probably one of the best live metal albums to date.

Also, rock mostly doesn't exist anymore. It's basically all indie rock bad shit, banjo rock bad shit, or bad shit trying to bite off good shit from 50 years ago like the beach boys. With the exception of Imagine Dragons-sounding shit. Which is all Mormon Creed bad shit.

Rust In Peace is their generally most-accepted "best" album. The follow up, Countdown To Extinction, is also phenomenal.

Personally I'm torn between Cryptic Writings and Risk. They both saw Mustaine taking the band into some new directions that generally worked pretty well.

There are actually a couple of really good modern country artists out there.

I couldn't name them because I only hear them at the one bar I go to occasionally when the guy who plays country hogs the jukebox, but between the shit sandwiches are a few pieces of good stuff. Blues-heavy, kind of like classic Southern Rock.

1) line isn't so distinct. She is heavily country based and the melodic structure/production are both pretty country.
4) if you like the odeath sound check out the rest of 16 Horsepower. They are one of the formative alt country groups. American Wheeze and Low Estate are two of my favorites.

I disagree that a big sound is a loud one

Most characteristics of "big" sound either deal with heavily compressed signals or "live" recordings in large rooms.

In the former, this is directly described as "loudness", in terms of perceived dynamics and volume.
In the latter, the recorded source is also "loud", because it needs to be in order to pick up the signal at a strong enough volume before the reverb of the room washes it out.


So you're literally incorrect no matter how you want to argue it.
