Strictly 6 items situation. This basically never happens though. Not anywhere in gold or lower anyway. More often what decides the game is the perception of a team being stronger causing the "weaker" team's carries to forget how to shoot. People not shooting and people feeding are the leading causes of losses anywhere I've been. I think I've gotten a team comp loss like, 10 times in 5 years.

i have a roommate who literally sometimes just picks the champion.gg counter to champs and then goes the exact build with the highest winrate... even if they've played that champ like twice

I had this romantic idea that the pros were at least above average in terms of intelligence. Till hybrid (support player for OG now, g2 before) disclosed that in terms I could understand. Above average would be generous

i think its generally established that people who are good at what they do aren't necessarily smarter, just work harder
i'd be challenger too no problem if I could play for 8+ hours a day. heck I was unemployed for a month and jumped from silver to plat from playing so much
I don't think that's generally established, inte. Not saying you need to be in the top 1% for most physical sports, but between better general health giving you better chances at a higher IQ, and that outsmarting your opponent or understanding your own performance better could give you an edge, I daresay in many a sport the very top is smarter than average. IDK, there's also talent at work, and there's only so much you can do with just training.

i played at a 'challenger level' dota for quite a few years back in high school, and i was i guess the lower end of them. sure lots of them were people i would call smart, but definitely the common theme between most of them were that they played a fuckton of scrims against good players
