Err, that setup is broken. There's likely a guaranteed town win, although I haven't found one yet; I have, however, found a strategy that gives town 94.4% EV, which is still way too high.

EDIT: Two possible fixes:

(Less favoured but would still work) Increase the number of paths town has to survive to 6, rather than 5. This is probably still somewhat townsided, but not by as much, and also has the disadvantage that luck is probably more important than scumhunting.

(My preferred option) Increase the number of paths town has to survive to 7, but place a bias on the randomizer between paths (I suggest that each day, you announce two paths, one with a 70% chance of being the safe path, and one which is safe only the other 30% of the time). This should have more scumhunting involved than the previous option (because scum will have to decide if they're townread enough to lie about the 30% path being safe, and town will have to decide how many times they're going to ask for a second opinion). I'm not sure where the balance is but it isn't obviously broken. Note that in this version of the setup, a 2:2 or 1:1 endgame should not be an automatic scum win (town should have the chance to guess their way to the end of the setup even if they can't lynch anyone any more).

Marvel Dual Universes uPick


This game is a uPick for any Marvel Superhero. During pre-game, players should send in a list of three Marvel Superheroes they'd like to be. Priority for who gets their top picks first will be randomized.

The game will be role madness and will be reviewed more extensively then last time!

The main mechanic is a Dual World mechanic.

Spoiler:
The game begins as a regular game in Earth-One until the town mislynches.

When the town mislynches, then the game will move to Earth-Two.

Earth-Two will have a completely different rolelist. Rolecards for Earth-Two are not distributed until the game moves there. However, characters are the same in both worlds.

Alignments are completely random in both worlds. Players might or might not have the same alignment between worlds.

Players may discuss both worlds at any time.

If the town mislynches again, then the game moves back to Earth-One and you will be able to use your previous roles. If town mislynches again, then back to Earth-Two, etc.

Dying in one Earth does not kill you in the other. For example, if a townie is mislynched day one in Earth-One, they will still be alive in Earth-Two unless they are also killed in Earth-Two, and vice versa.

If all of the scum/town are eliminated in one world, the game will remain in the other world for the rest of the game.

I'm pretty sure the setup is still broken but at this point I'd prefer to break it in-game. I'd advise only signing up if you're comfortable with playing to breaking strategies, because aiming to play the setup "normally" is highly likely to lead to a scum win.

99% of the time, the answer will be no. All requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and I must approve of both heads. Further restrictions will also apply if I allow any hydras in a game.
Other Restrictions?:
You must have made at least 3 posts in the Grand Idea Mafia thread in MD. Furthermore, you must have posted at least 1 town and 1 anti-town (TPR does NOT count) role. WOTM is in effect, and I reserve the right to reject anyone who I feel does not have a reasonable enough ISO in the Grand Idea Mafia thread.

Description:
A setup will be made by randomizing roles from a player's ISO in the Grand Idea Mafia thread. The setup will be rerolled if any overtly overpowered roles (as determined by mod discretion) are rolled, or if town does not make up a majority, or if no group scum faction exists. Once the setup has been rolled, the role list and player list will be randomized and roles will be given. There will be no flavor. Balance is definitely not guaranteed.

The problem is that you can't force scum to take a different path and since they know the safe path, there will be 2 scum in the game permanently. Thus, you need 3 town players to survive 5 paths, assuming that the town wincon takes precedence over the mafia wincon at 6 successful paths. I haven't found a strategy that is even close to game breaking, but maybe I'm just an idiot...

@FakeGod: What is going to happen with mafia players that have scumclaimed by taking another path than that they said they would. It doesn't seem much fun to have them around for as long as the game goes on... Especially not for the mafia player. I'm sorry if I'm cluttering up the thread.

I've spent the last two days trying to break it, including asking FakeGod a bunch of rules questions.

The hard part is that identifying the scum doesn't win the game for town; even if you lynch them both, you still need a townie to survive to D7 to win. This pretty much rules out Zyf's strategy because although it's good at getting rid of scum, it leads to the remaining group of townies being too small to finish.
