DISCLAIMER: None of these are official guesses, just trying to grease the wheels of the mind.

#1 looks like the Shining opening credits, i'm pretty sure of this

#2 looks like spiderman's house but i don't know which spiderman movie. one of the tobey maguire ones for sure but it could be 1, 2, or 3. i'd guess 2 bc why not.

#3 could be any movie with red dice, of which there are shit tons. ugh. ocean's eleven? 21? snake eyes? hahaha there are sooo many vegas/gambling movies.

#4 doesn't look like a knife, idk why i thought of a windshield wiper. shrug city.

#5 hmm another house. i don't know this one. it ain't mad men, it ain't planet of the apes, but it looks like an older period like the 60s-80s being portrayed.

#6 ooo there should be something popping into my mind. but there isn't. that ain't a death star explosion, that ain't a michael bay movie (it'd be more orange). maybe some older practical-effects movie from the 80s or 90s. it's doesn't look like an epic-scale explosion, just a "big" one (i.e. a plane, not a space station)

#7 looks like the opening credits of House of Cards, they show a lot of statues in that, but it's mostly during night time sooo idk. the pic looks like it could be evening.

#8 i don't even know what that is... a boat? a helicopter? any guesses? there's 2 white dots on the water tho btw

#9 looks like there's broken glass on the floor, and something behind the chair

#10 looks like sand underwater with a single line of footprints

#11 at first I thought Finding Nemo but then i'm like nahhh that's traditional animation. is there a scene like this in like... Pocahontas? what are the orange things?

#12 wild guess: Phantom of the opera? idk

#13 shit i feel like i should know this

#14 KMD you may be right... but it could also be a bunch of other movies

#15 is ??? (anybody guess what city that might be? that might help)

#16 ooohhhh god i feel like i should know this one too. but i dont even have any wild guesses

#17 i have no idea. does the bird look animated to you guys?

#18 is pulp fiction pretty sure, when they stab Uma Thurman with adrenaline. muahahaha

#19 I KNOW THIS ONE. IT'S SYDNEY'S HOUSE FROM SCREAM. This is from Scream 3 I think. (Disclaimer: I fucking love scream, so I'm like 95% sure on this. Haven't watched them in years but this immediately stood out. Watch the new TV series it's totally fun lol) (yay, another movie house I recognize! lol)

#20 is ??? but it makes me think of Pontypool for some reason

sooo thats at least three i am very sure of (#1, #18, and #19), and one that's a 1/3 chance (#2)

#15

the cars in look like an 80s movie, the blurriness of the screenshot also suggests this

there's a mcdonalds in the background
there's clearly a sign with Cs on it... so it's not japan like i think someone suggested above

the road looks oddly familiar and i think it's cause of the sunset.
"Drive" immediately comes to mind, i recognized the streets in that movie but those were near hollywood... and that movie's way too new to have cars like this.

OOOOO culver city? that's near L.A. and i used to live near L.A. so that could explain the sunset looking familiar

but what movies take place in L.A....... ALL OF THEM. lmfao

this looks like an establishing shot. meaning it's establishing a location, a character, or a thing, maybe a car? do you guys remember anybody from an 80s movie driving a car like that? or know what year that car is?

i would have guessed scream 1 next tbh. but either way i am 100% sure that is sydney prescott's house

randommidget pls no more off the cuff guesses without asking around.
i am fine with the ghostbusters one since you were dead sure, but let's talk about it more before any more guesses.

...

let's also hope other people ARE guessing off-the-cuff in their groups, lol

#3 is very high quality, that means it's a recent movie.

it's obviously craps, idk what the "line" on the craps table means, could that be the name of a casino or is it just part of craps? (i've never played)

this could be an establishing shot as well. so maybe not what the movie is about, but just a "ayyyy there's a scene in vegas" screenshot.

i recommend we wait on further clues for guessing on this one, since there is just not enough to distinguish it.

#5 picket fence, nice neighborhood, seems to be kind of a pinkish peachish color motif going on with the house and flowers. lots of plant life.

perhaps an older female character. doesn't look like a family home. doesn't look like a one-off (i.e. a murder victim's house or just "that one house they show that one time"), it looks more deliberately planned and executed than that.

ring any bells?

#6 could actually be an X-wing blowing up in the attack on the death star. idk why i keep thinking of star wars here. doesn't seem to have enough debris from the explosion though. let's keep spitballin' on that one. maybe we should wait for the next round of clues.

someone may as well guess Scream (scream 1) on the #19 house, btw. i am 100% sure that's correct now that scream 2 and 3 have been wrong.

#7 looks like a statue in DC. idk what statue. idk what time period the movie's in. time of day looks like dawn or dusk.

#8 i have decided that it is a helicopter. it was unclear to me at first but i was kinda rushing. i thought it was something flying since there are no waves around it. there doesn't seem to be a big wave chasing it, there's no other indication of anything else in the pic besides the ocean, and my mind keeps trying to trick me into thinking i can see the curvature of the earth (which is awesome but completely irrelevant)

this looks like a plot shot, i.e. not an action shot or establishing shot. we're clearly meant to see that they're going somewhere, they're going somewhere far, and they've traveled quite a way. why take a helicopter that far if it's not a big deal? why not take a plane? where are they going? are they headed to a ship? an island? something else?

possible guesses are:

- jurassic park (on the way to the island in the first movie? i don't recognize the helicopter but maybe someone else does, my memory is foggy) (also i feel like there'd be a ship they were coming from, or some kind of land feature in the background... that's just going off memory though)

- jaws (was there a helicopter in that? idk. i just remember boats tbh)

uhhhhhh anything with a ship or island in the middle of the ocean, that would be small enough not to have an airstrip for a plane?

any other guesses?

#9 is older than gone girl (though i don't know the time period that movie takes place in though, i assumed it was "nowadays" i.e. 2015-2016.

there's a corded telephone on the couch-side table. that furniture style looks mid to late 90s, possibly early 00s.

is that a container of alcohol next to the phone? and a pile of napkins? or a pack of cigarettes?

#10 looks like underwater sand to me, not snow or desert sand. the bluish tinge of the frame kinda seals it for me, as well as the formation of the sand not being in piles or having desert windmarks. it's kinda consistent with underwater microcurrents too. i kinda wanted to say it was pirates of the caribbean when jack and will are walking into the harbor with the canoe at the beginning of the first movie in order to steal the ship, but that is at a different angle, and there would be two sets of footprints.

so, underwater footprints in sand, single set of footprints, looks like they were made with oxfords or boots, clearly not barefoot or flippers or anything.

the lighting style and quality look similar

i'd say ocean's 11 is a good guess

it seems clear that a number of these were picked from trilogies or serieses (scream, spiderman, potentially star wars, etc.) so that makes it a safer guess too.

#15 aaggghhh

that one's really bugging me

i wanna guess one of these:

falling down
beverly hills cop (another trilogy)
die hard (1, because 2 is at the airport and 3 is in NY, and 4 and 5 are way too new to be that)
terminator 1 (not 2 or 3 or 4 or 5)

this whole "they're all from a movie series" thing is going on strong in my mind
especially after the whole scream fiasco

p-edit: #6 i don't think is deep impact, i just finally watched that for the first time, and i get no deep impact vibes from that.
p-edit2: #1 being the love bug is <3 <3 <3 i miss that movie
p-edit3: good point PV

also re: post above mine with the picture. spooderman was like early 2000s.
keep in mind that'd be his old-ass aunt may's/uncle ben's house tho, and they'd have an old car and live in a house like that

spider man was 2001 (i distinctly remember the "3 may" campaign in the playstation 3 font)
spider man 3 was 2007 (i remember because of other things that happened in my life right then)
i forget when spiderman 2 was, but it's probably 04. either way that's immaterial since it's probably the first one.

it looks like an establishing shot: "look how boring this kid's neighborhood is, look what he's surrounded with"

and that's another reason the houses could be gray. very little is done on accident in establishing shots. this is like the exact opposite of edward scissorhands' bright happy houses, and it looks like it's on purpose.

intent to guess:
Spider-Man (first tobey maguire one)

for the underwater footprints

is there anything like that in titanic?

for some reason i'm thinking of Into the Blue with Paul Walker, because i recall them treasure hunting.

what other treasure hunting movies are there?

it doesn't look like an underwater monster movie

then i am even more proud of myself

and even more mad at scream 3 LOL

and lol i remember there being stuff in the background in JP's chopper scenes.... maybe this is the veeery first one.

or maybe i'm thinking of the lost world!! aaaahhh yea it was them on a boat and the mexican dude is scared of the islands because they are called "las cincas muertes" and the guy will only go so close to the islands because he's scared, that's what i was thinking of.

gee i hope they don't include like some obvious picture of a dinosaur in the later screenshots for JP, haha

#13 (girl walking down stairs)

looks like an older house due to the wooden bannister/railing and the grid polkadot carpet design. something from the 80s or early 90s most likely, as it's not a shaggy carpet, and short carpets didn't really replace those until the late 70s or early-mid 80s depending (lol i'm pulling this all out of my ass / personal experience btw, i haven't done any research on carpets recently ehehe).

ummmmmmmmmm

judging by these other ones, it's probably some really popular movie.

only movie i can think of where a girl walks down stairs tho is Princess Diaries (lol, shut up) and it's completely the wrong angle.

this one looks like it's about to pan up her body and show a skirt. looks like an artsy between-scene shot where she's about to talk to someone, or just got done talking to someone.

Image

i can't tell if she's wearing just the hose or if she has black flats on

halp

it's probably inconsequential anyway

#16 answering machine

Image

looks kinda dusty.

i can't make out any of the pictures in the background. but the front one doesn't look like a portrait, more like art.

for some reason i'm getting a deja vu of the movie Deja Vu (lol)
because there's a scene where there's an answering machine. and it has something to do with the future and the past.

answering machines are usually used when there's something time-sensitive that happened, that a character can't affect (or can he!?!?), or they're used to play sad memories (i.e. left behind, captain america civil war (albeit a cell phone), ummm a couple others that are escaping me)

they are rarely used otherwise because it's just needless fluff. it's gotta mean something. and obv if this is the one they picked for the game, it might be significant.

but this looks like an older voicemail recording machine than that would have been (that was a 2006-2008ish movie, this looks firmly early 2000s or ehhh maybe late 90s? it reminds me of a cassette player so perhaps that design style was still in).

door is the focal point

there's a fire extinguisher, but that's probably not used unless the zombies hands come crashing through the window and they're trying to keep them out

what the fuck are those machines measuring? power?

is that one on the right a switchboard?

is that a clipboard with regulations on it?

what's going on here?? lol

#17 the bird is looking at the camera

it looks snowy, or possibly melting snow in the background

they had that raven in game of thrones, which is very sentient-like

is there anything like that in any other movies you guys can think of

remember so far these movies are late eighties to early aughts so think of movies like 1987-2003

idk what kind of a bird that is, but it looks like it's trying to tell me something haha

fuck you, inspirational bird of who knows what species.

for all i know, you're probably not real anyway. are you graphics? ooo that's a thing to consider.
damn i wish i could see it in motion, i'd almost certainly be able to tell.

Could the whirlpool be from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron? Maybe... also, love that movie.

Could the snow footprints be Hateful Eight or The Thing? A little too new and old, respectively, for our established time frame, but who knows.

Bird one is really bugging me.

3 and 12 are 2.39:1 so newish movies in a theater
6 and 11 are 16:9 and thus probably DVD screen caps
4 is obviously 4:3 and old af

6 night sky prob not space due to bedsheets coming down from the window that doesn't seem like a space movie

it's not star wars it's not the last starfighter (no bedsheets), i don't think it's a space movie, also it's not fireworks, it's not colored and there's debris in the explosion.

3 is not animated therefore not toy story, also that's godzilla not a dinosaur, roland emmerich made a godzilla movie, but it wouldn't have godzilla toys in it

4 i haven't seen schindler's list yet unfortunately.

11 is that just a rolled up armadillo or something? what movie has a character like that? i'm blanking here.

3 i feel like these are just throwaway miscellaneous world-building shots that don't tell much about the story. it's probably something totally unrelated like an action movie, i.e. the dog's not a character, it's not a gambling movie, etc.

12 titanic was a good guess. for some reason i'm thinking the green mile, and saw 1, but there's no stage scenes in either of those. also those aren't handcuffs, they look like straps with a weak chain, so maybe bondage play? and one of the people is releasing the other (also they are facing each other, so not prison rape lol, even though both sets of hands look male)

i'm pretty lost. can we has more cluez now? haha

vote: stage 3

fuck.

3 looks really familiar. space shuttle? doesn't look like a documentary. i don't remember a dice scene in deep impact. it's not gravity. it's not apollo 13 or 18. armageddon? but i don't really remember a dog or godzilla toys either. it did come out around the same time as godzilla though, i haven't seen armageddon since i was like 15 though so it's been a reallllllllly long time, someone else confirm? what's the F the beginning of? a word or an acrronym? what's taking up the main area of the screenshot?

4 i wanna say casablanca solely cause of the last pic. i don't recognize the first two at all. but it all looks kinda film noir-y and casablanca's got some bar with rounded ceilings like that if i remember correctly.

6 no idea but the last picture reminds me of some oozy sewer thing from ninja turtles. the other pics rule it out.

11 i'm fucking stumped by, and i thought i was good with animations. lightweight salty that there's a second dice pic. really, mods? fuck you guys :P

12 i wanna guess scarface. idk. it's the beachside i remember. maybe it's a famous beach in other movies, but it reminds me of scarface, and i haven't seen it for 10 years so maybe there's handcuffs and a stage too lol

Go for it, if you want; I'd say after this we stop guessing to maximize our chances of tiebreaker potential

I mean obviously unless you're super super sure, but I think that ship has sailed on these two
