Wheel of Fortune

For the first elimination of the game, we'll be playing a classic: SC's Wheel of Fortune! The two rookies and the two veterans will compete in separate matches. Both pairs of competitors must coordinate a time with each other that they can both be online to complete the challenge. The rules have been outlined below.

RULES

The game will take place with the following rounds, in order. Toss-up > Round 1 > Round 2 > Round 3 > Toss-up > Round 4 > Bonus Round.

For every puzzle, I will choose a word or phrase and give you the category. Every letter in that word or phrase will be represented with a blank white square unless I state that some of the letters will be revealed immediately. Punctuation is always revealed immediately.

TOSSUP

The game will start with a toss-up for $2,500 and the right to go first in the main game. I will reveal a quarter of the board at random at the outset. If no one solves within 5 minutes or both players pass, then I will reveal another quarter of the board. If there are still no solves 5 minutes after that or everyone passes, then another quarter of the board is revealed. If 5 minutes go by after

without a solve or everyone passes, no one wins.

MAIN GAME

The winner of the tossup (or the player who was picked by the elimination candidate for the Brawl if no one won the Tossup) goes first in the first round. He or she will throw a 1d72; this will constitute a spin of the wheel. What happens next depends on the result of the spin:

• Dollar figure:
  The player will select a consonant (Y counts). If it's there, I will reveal all instances of that letter and credit the player with the amount spun for each occurrence (for example, spinning $500 and guessing a consonant that appears twice wins $1,000). If the consonant does not appear, play passes to the next player. Top dollar in Round 1 is $2,500. top dollar in Round 2 is $3,750, and top dollar in Round 3 is $5,000.
  
• Free Play:
  The player may guess any available letter at all (vowels are worth nothing, consonants are worth $500 apiece) or even solve the puzzle. If a player picks a wrong letter or solves incorrectly, the player will be allowed to retain his or her turn instead of play passing as usual.
  
• Lose a Turn:
  Play passes to the next player.
  
• Bankrupt:
  The player loses all money in the round and his or her turn.

When a player has at least $500, he or she may buy a vowel at that price. If it's there, the turn continues; otherwise, it passes. It is a flat rate; whether it's one, many, or none at all, it's still $500.

If at any time during their turns players believe they know the answer, they may solve instead of spinning or buying. The solution, which must be in bold, must be exactly as I have it with no misspellings or any words added or deleted. A contestant MUST solve a puzzle during a round to keep any money they earned during that round.

For every decision to spin, buy, or solve, the player in control of the board has 5 minutes to make a post, or else they will pass command of the board to their opponent.

Round 2 is started by the player after the person who started Round 1, and Round 3 is started by the player who started Round 1. After that, a tossup for $5,000 will be played, the winner of which starts the next round. If nobody wins the $5,000 tossup, whoever started Round 2 starts the round after the $5,000 tossup.

BONUS ROUND

For the bonus round in this game, we will be playing an altered variant. Both players in the Brawl will compete in the bonus round. After the conclusion of Round 4, both players will privately submit a bid through private message; you may bid as little as $0 or as high as your current score.

After your bid, I will send you the puzzle in a private message and reveal all instances of R, S, T, L, N, E. I will then ask you for three consonants and one vowel. After you make your four selections, I will put them up. To win back your bid, you must solve the puzzle within 5 minutes. You may only submit three guesses for the puzzle. If you correctly solve the puzzle, you will receive the dollar value of whatever you bid; if you fail to solve the puzzle, you will lose the value of your bid.

After the final round, the player will the higher dollar value will remain in the game, while the loser will be eliminated from Clash of the Mash. If there is a tie, an impromptu tossup will be played to determine the winner.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• Please do not edit your posts. I must rule all edited guesses as incorrect and assume that any edited spin was originally one that was going to land on Bankrupt. Caught edits also result in a strike.
  
• Below the board are the letters that have not been picked yet. Please pay attention to this as if you guess a letter guessed already, you lose your turn.
  
• If you guess a vowel on any wheel spin other than Free Play or try to buy a consonant, you lose your turn (and $500 if you do the latter).
  
• It goes without saying, but

Both veterans can obviously not select the same opponent, and the same is the case with the rookies. Whenever a veteran/rookie makes their selection, that opponent is off-limits for the other veteran/rookie to pick.

There has been the following rule change: the TOP DOLLAR and $5,000 spaces are a flat rate, meaning if you land on it, you have to name a letter, but you only get that dollar value once if the letter appears on the board. For example, if you land on $5,000 and say T, even if there are 3 T's on the board, you still only receive $5,000.
