Man, I remember when I used to regularly check the Title Fairy thread to see what too title had been proposed. Lately it seems like it's the same people just working really hard to keep the thread "alive" with really inane posts.

The TF threads are always best the they are allowed to go fallow for awhile. Let it get necro'd by a great idea. Because this thread has been creatively tapped out for a while and people are just throwing shit suggestions at the wall in hopes that something may stick.

and only 2 of the 14 people who have posted here in the last 10 days have custom titles

and both of them have only shown up to bitch about something immaterial or make a throwaway post




but either way

i'm unclear as to how it's not immediately obvious to anyone with eyes and no short term memory loss, that the overwhelming demographic of users coming here are coming here 1) to gain visibility such that they might gain a custom title, 2) because they are excited about giving someone else something they don't have, and/or 3) because they are excited to even be included in the conversation for something which has no intrinsic worth but is interesting to them simply for sheer novelty value

i.e. people without titles.





so first, how is this a surprise

and second, why is this a bad thing

and third, all yall salty ass grumpies in the "back in the olden golden days people never used to shitpost in the title thread" camp should actually go back and read the old title fairy threads and then realize literally zero has changed

The thing is, to you it may be a string of characters on a silly little website, but for so many people MafiaScum is a community which has irrevocably shaped who they are today. MafiaScum has given them joy, advice, love, and a place to be who they are. And what you may see as a futile bottlenecking of the title process is a tradition of the site that serves to commemorate users for the things they have done here. You may think it has no worth, but it does mean something to so many people.

Sure, it's easy to see when users pop in to this thread and make posts in search of visibility for title consideration, but I like to think I'm good at seeing those people and being much more critical when they are nominated for titles as in: "Is it truly something that the user would've been noted for had they not made their presence known in this thread?" And, I guess even if I'm a bit paranoid and my net catches too many, that's not such a bad thing.

In the end, whatever points of yours that are valid are still supporting an argument for bad posting, which is an argument up with which I will not put. I'm sure the other Title Fairy threads are strewn with their fair share of detritus, but why does that mean we have to make this another trashed beach?

Everyone has different opinions on titles and multiple people on both sides of having titles and not having titles have various opinions on whether a title is good for a person or not....

Nominate Accountant for Perfectly Certified Detective
Variations would be Perfectly Obvious/Obviously Perfect, Mr. Holmes, Major Obvious, Frame of Clarity

Let's first dig into the perfect part for each title that contains perfect. Accountant has perfect but unrealistic views of the world. He believes the best of people, the best of the world. People refer to him as naive and inexperienced, but I choose not to devalue his opinions and instead review to his opinion on the perfect world as a perfect opinion.

That said, I do recall Accountant saying in discord that he believes in the best, so he's not forced to believe in the worst. His views are simply perfect in nature.

Certified comes from the name CPA. Certified Professional Accountant. It's a play on his name as that's what Accountants can be referred to.

It's also a play that Accountant is a certified IC that from what I've seen (apart from a game I missed) Accountant has only played newbie games. This is based on relative experience, but he is certainly a certified SE/IC.

Detective/Mr. Holmes/Obvious/Clarity originate from Accountant's supposed sense of humor of which he'll make obvious remarks or explain a joke simply because he can. He's extremely obvious and blatant with what he says, and it's hilarious.

The Major part comes from Major Tom in which I sometimes envision Accountant floating off with his perfect ideals to which space is the people that constantly try to attack his ideals, but Major Accountant will live on in our hearts.

As for Frame of, it comes from a song I remember Accountant quoting. It was called Frame of Mind, and I found it oddly specific to how Accountant views things. He views perspectives, as you'd say, in a different Frame of Mind.

It also reflects on his music taste.
