Password has been a Mish Mash staple since PersonalIdiot04 first ran a version of it in 2011. A lot of mods have run the game since: RedCoyote, JDGA, CityElectric, DeasVail, xofelf, and Cheery Dog. While the game has seen many different faces throughout the years, the game has remained the same and just as easy and fun as always! You will be playing this in pairs, one newbie with one veteran, and you will all be competing against each other. The team that gets the most passwords correct in the least amount of clues, wins! Rules are as follows:

SETUP RULES

  • The "guesser" and "clue-giver" roles will be decided by the teams prior to the game. If there is no preference, a two-sided dice tag will be flipped to decide which player will play what role.
  • Use of outside resources (e.g. dictionary, thesaurus) is not permitted.

GAME RULES

Matching
  • The Moderator will decide on a set list of 15 passwords. The passwords will be an English word which will be given to the clue-giver players.
  • The clue-giver will then post a
    one word clue
. The contents cannot be more than one word, nor can they be hyphenated or elaborated on within the post in anyway. The word cannot be the password, a made-up word, a proper noun or "too similar" to the password.
  • The guesser tries to guess what the password was from the clue-giver's clue. They guesser will then post a
    one word guess
    .
  • If the guesser is incorrect, the clue-giver will give another clue.
  • This pattern will go back and forth until the password has been guessed correctly.
  • The clue-giver can give clues for all 15 words at once to make things quicker, but both players must clearly identify which word is being given a clue for or is being guessed.
  • You have
    48 hours
from this post to complete the challenge. Both players in your pair will be sent a link to your private topic to be used for this game immediately.

Scoring
  • You will score one point for each guess given by the guesser. If the guesser fails to correctly identify a word, the team will score 12 points for that word, which is the maximum score that can be earned from a single word. The team with the least amount of points wins safety from elimination, as well as the power to be team captains for Round 03!
  • If the clue-giver violates a rule (posting the password, giving a proper noun, etc.), 12 points will automatically be given for the word under which the rule was broken, and guessing for that word will cease. If you have any questions regarding whether a clue is legal, please don't hesitate to ask xofelf or CuddlyCaucasian!
  • The team with the highest score will lose the game, and must choose another team that isn't safe to face in the Brawl for elimination.
  • In the event of a tie, all teams should submit a guess for the total points that will be scored by all teams put together during this challenge, without going over. This guess should be submitted
before the 48 hours are up.
    Good luck.

Before anyone else does this, you cannot talk about why you're giving the clues you're giving, and you cannot give reasoning for your guesses. Clues and guesses are limited to one word only. You also need to get the exact word for it to count as correct.

This is a change to the standard password rules of "The guess can have a different form than the password, so if the word is "fish", the words "fishing" and "fished" would be acceptable.", correct?

If a team hasn't designated their clue-giver by 24 hours into the challenge, the mods will make a judgment call based on what you've said in-thread. To help the game move faster we recommend giving a list of clues for each word all at once, such as the following:

1) Clue
2) Help
3) Guidance
4) etc.

So, give 15 clues (one for each word), then additional clues will only be needed for incorrect guesses, then reducing as each word is correctly guessed?

Mods: Shouldn't this be the last double-elimination round? The rules are written as if this is now single-elimination.

This round is the last double-elimination round, so the last two placing teams will enter the Brawl. The challenges were all written before we made the bump up to 40 players and we forgot to change this one. :P

it was a pretty cunning plan

Due to multiple teams having difficulty getting together, we're extending the deadline by a few hours, and possibly more if necessary. Results should be up sometime tonight, however.
