the thread began with a low-effort articulation of an attitude ('alts suck! that is all') and the posts about hydras are just the same thing
read them as "i just don't mind alts like i do other sorts of legal account shenanigans"

the reasons people use hydras and hydras are bad are in generic sense about the same as those why people use alts and that use is problematic
both are tolerated because the trade-off is not quite indisputably obtrusive
