If someone wants to stay with them while the meet is ongoing it is at their discretion, it's not like the event is actually happening at their place.

So are there norms for now long after folks are staying?

I've decided I'll just schedule my stay for like Dec 27 - Jan HOWEVER LONG DRAM PUTS UP WITH ME. And if I get another residency interview during that time I'll just do a happy dance and spend an extra few hundred dollars.

I apologize for being so late with my planning, but work has not yet decided on when the winter break will actually take place, so it'll be a little while longer yet.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.
